Does this use an in house engine and signatures or another company's? Also, does the ad blocking of the Internet Security version work with Chrome?

Just tested it againt 30 links or so. It has potential. Like Ad-aware, seems like a free version of Vipre.

Yeah, that's lame. Also uses about 51 meg, which is a bit much. And no manual updates. Seems to be auto update only.

Looks interesting...it have more features and options than Fortinet Lite and for me it's like "more featured MSE" :)
    @djohn
Probably because of that - UT AV is much heavier in pagefile usage. On two screenshots below: system usage in "silent work" and while scanning

This was not free previously. Now they launched a free version, right?

    Where is the company located?
RAP Test Oct shows its very good.
    Inhouse or other providers engines?
Anyone tested it personally? Is it effective as it shows in RAP Test?
Currently downloading & will do a little test.

    Thanxx

Edit - Installed it. Seems light. Browsing & applications are opening as usual fine. 2 processes taking around 55-60 MB on XP SP3.

There is something mentioned about Open Candy in Eula. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Advanced users will have to customize the default settings as they will find it not apt for them.

Edit - It installs something called Unthreat - Road Warrior in Internet Explorer - Properties - Connections. Whats this? Coz sometimes to browse to a site a page appears where you have to enter captcha to go to the site. On google I typed wilders & clicked on the wilders link & the captcha page appeared, I typed the words & this site opened.

Yes the VPN adapter is there but you cannot enable it. It mentions the VPN is for paid users only. So that means the VPN is disabled.

But this captcha thing is quite irritating. It asks to enter captcha almost everytime browsing.

The GUI also mentions shell extension scan but its not there in the right click.
The quarantine is also not working correctly. Delete item doesn't works but delete all works. So there are few bugs.

Tested it with few malware. Did quite well.

    Thanxx

Yes, the AV was originally shareware a few days ago, but now its 100% freeware.

As stated above you, UnThreat uses the Vipre engine. And yes languy99 tested in a while back.

No such issue here.No nagging screens, just a simple banner in the main menu, which is not disturbing at all.

WOW... what a surprise..:) If other companies are giving away Vipre engine free then why not Vipre doing this...? :(
I know same thing happens with Bitdefender and Virusbuster.

    Anyway
I am not sure if this is so.

It opens automatically. I think whether it fits you whole screen or not is depending on what resolutions you run. It does not fit my whole screen.

No.Not at all!Normal boot, like always.
I use PrivateFirewall, but don't believe it blocks the nagging screen, because i didn't see any warning about that.

Thanks Clocks for the fast reply.I am using 1024 X 600 highest on my netbook.Being a netbook its always shut down after use so its kinda of enoying to have to close a GUI on every boot up or restart.Other then that, this seems to be one of the best freeware Antivirus I have seen in a while.
