What will this mean, like better detection, lower system impact etc?

No, there will be no set date most likely. That is why I suggested checking the forum every now and then.

The banner window only appears when UnThreat has a special promotion going on, similar to the Avast promo popups. Other than that, there is an unobtrusive banner ad in the main GUI like in Avast Free.

    Yep.

This doesn't even catch the Eicar Test file in email or in a scan.

With default UnThreat settings Eicar is excluded from scan.

Under settings check the option "check files when open/copied", eicar will be detected.

This option only allows UnThreat to catch eicar with a shell scan. It still will not find eicar in a zipped file that is attached to an email.

Today while testing UnThreat I got to know that UnThreat has disinfection technology too.

Malware folder RightClick Scan with UnThreat, in the results window I saw disinfect selected for 1 malware.

I uploaded that malware to VirusTotal & it was detected by 23 scanners. I then disinfected it with UnThreat & uploaded the disinfected one to the VT & no scanners detected it.

GR8 to know UnThreat has disinfection technology too.

Wanted to share with you guyz.

    Thanxx

If anyone is interested...when the installer is decompressed with universal extractor(inno), it seems to work as a standalone. The only thing is I ended up with the 30 day trial. Does it just revert to the freeware version?

It does not revert to anything, the product installed is freeware. I assume you didn't delete the traces UnThreat left behind before restalling.

    Hi:

It seems unthreat antivirus free is buggy? I tried it on my machine with win 7 64bit ultimate and it crashed after rebooting it got stuck on rebooting and would not go to windows. Had to go to safe mode and uninstall it and everything is back to normal. On the other hand on my other machine which has 32bit win 7 ultimate is running great. So it might be buggy for 64bit systemso_O anyone experiencing the same thing?

Funny you say that. I had the exact same issue on Win7-64 last night. Had to take the same steps to uninstall.

yeah I had comodo firewall installed too. the only 2 active securities were comodo firewall and kingsoft pc doctor. So I guess its comodo firewall in 64bit is incompatible with unthreat. I also have comodo firewall on 32 bit and unthreat works fineo_O Very strange.

Hmmm. I had Kingsoft running when I first installed Uthreat. After having issues with the reboot, I unistalled via safe mode, and then tried to install it a second time with KPCD disabled. But I still had the same issue with Unthreat.

I suspect it has issues with win7-64bit.

I tried it out on a Win 7 x64 computer for a little bit. It didn't register correctly with Windows security center. It said something about the version not being compatible or something.

The staff in their forum mentioned that it protects itself from unauthorized termination.

window 64 bit has nothing to do with it,the crash was caused by sunbelt firewall driver.
