    I have build 1120 on Windows 8.

Soon it will be time for the Win 8.1 update. Does any body see any possible problems using AX64 on the machine after the 8.1 upgrade?

I remember someone did test it on 8.1, but 8.1 isn't listed as being supported on the website.

I really thought AX64 was dead and that Isso gone. This is a much better outcome than I had expected. AX64 will not die, Isso is still here, and, for the most part, all is right with the world - at least this part of it. So lets leave the gripping behind. This is a done deal. If you do not like it buy or use something else.

You would think you guys were shareholders or something and its shocking that Isso did not get your OK on this.

I have been following the post, and refrain myself from posting for fear of being accused as hijacking the thread. But as the direction has changed somewhat, let me spit my thoughts out.

Keriver-1 click Pro version has very similar features with AX64. If I remember correctly, someone somewhere around this thread has mentioned of this rollback software, but why no one took note of its similarities with AX64.

From searching this thread for the keyword Keriver (and my own memory), there were quite a few people taking more than just notes for comparison.

    Hi Guys,

Just a warning for users of AX64 who may want to try out the old but available version of Realcopy.

Due to the manner in which both AX64 and Realcopy track volume changes, the two cannot work in tandem. Co-installation causes neither app to work properly and a cold restore may be needed to correct any issues caused.

So if you guys would like to try out Realcopy as it exists now, you'll have to disable/uninstall AX64 first.

As quoted by the ever so kind Jim1cor13 in post
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2278299&postcount=30 :

"Both RealCopy and AX64TM are excellent applications, just not together."

    :D

    Many thanks,

    Wajamus

Just to add my own thoughts.

Like many here, I am opposed to subscription software but I see that that issue has been solved for now.

With others I agree that the development of the program should be released in bits so that each phase can be tested here before being added to the final program.

Regarding Cloud backup - I strongly dislike it, but if it should be offered as an option will a speed test be made to make sure that using it would be practical. I see a lot mentioned about cloud backup but no-one mentions how long it will take to download the GB's of data that have accumulated.

    Hi guys,

It seems people are very sensitive to the very slight mention of cloud backup/subscription despite other's efforts to quell the tide. Here is my effort to do so.

This is how it started if memory serves me right :)

    1. Someone found our new WIP site and noticed it had monthly pricing on it .

To clarify again, we're free at least until Realcopy Time Machine is released. But that'll be sometime. And even when it is released, it will follow a similar pricing scheme to what AX64 had. We won't ever have monthly pricing for our main product, at least for the foreseeable future!

    2. This someone further stated they did not believe there would be a monthly subscription, unless that perhaps a cloud service was provided.

    3. I clarified that we were working on a cloud service, and this might be subscription based. This would be optional and unobtrusive.

Truth is, we're not even working on the cloud stuff at the moment. It is on the back burner and the team is simply working overtime to get the next releases of AX64 and Realcopy out. Following this are the incremental releases of RC: TM. It'll be free 'till it is fully integrated and we feel it's tight and right.

Hope that clarifies finally the cloud stuff.

No subscription. No cloud. Not for a while. :argh:

    Cheers,

    Wajamus Time machine

Would you care to comment on my request for multi-partition (or full HDD) support?

    wajamus:

I would also like to know if the AX64 "bug" list - and - AX64 "features / feedback" lists have been reviewed by RC TM and will be acted on. I for one have 4 AX64 licenses, and one of them does not work on my XP PC. A lot of time and discussion (and need) went into the problems / features / feedback requests.

It also sounds like I'm going to have to purchase 4 more licenses when RC TM rolls out?

    Please comment or clarify.

    Thank you.

    Hi Wajamus,
Just wondering why you are going to devote time to get out a final release of AX64 and RC, rather than just get right on the new RCTM. Won't AX64 and RC become obsolete as soon as RCTM is released? I don't see an advantage to another version when they work well as is and will soon be scrapped. :)

    Hi
Great ,the Development is going on.
Two things I have to mention:
    ax64 didn't work for me on Win 8.1 ( freezes at finishing a restore-point)
Does Realcopy care about the Trim-Command on SSDs ?

In the meanwhile, I thought I'd have a look at the current RealCopy. Didn't take long—it appears that RC does not even install in Windows XP. Do you plan on including XP support in RC TM?

    Hi normanbg,

Thanks for the question. It has been in development for the Realcopy engine for sometime (Realimg engine) and is supported by the Realimg api. It needs more work and it is also a challenge to integrate nicely into the UI. It is definitely something that is important to us and we will be including it in a future release - possibly in the short months after RCTM is released.

WinXP should be supported in RCTM.

RCTM at the point it is fully integrated with AX64 should be fully compatible with SSDs and TRIM command. We're familiar with some of the issues 8.1 causes and will be looking into fixing them as soon as possible. We'll give some feedback on this shortly I think.

Thanks for the question. Despite the silent weeks, the AX64 team has been active with development and been quite aware of the bug list in feedback/support. RCTM team will act on these, definitely.

Once RCTM reaches a point we feel it's fully integrated and worthy of a price tag, then those that currently own licenses for AX64 will be eligible for an upgrade at a discount. Again, these ain't set in stone. We may just give it all away for free. But we're kinda poor and we don't want to put up a donation page either. As you can see, we dedicate most of our budget to our wonderful Froggie our VP marketing guy.

    There are a few reasons.

Both teams have worked passionately on the upcoming version of Realcopy. Some features and optimizations have taken a year or more of development. It's almost done and we'd love to finally get it out and into the hands of you guys. We want to hear how much you like it or love it. Either that, or we'll brace ourselves to hear how much you hate it  . Bottom line is, we've worked hard, it's almost done, so we're gonna' release it. :)

As for AX64's next release, maybe we won't release a new version. But that's unlikely. We want to support our users and we've had some fixes done over these silent weeks. Isso will update you guys regarding this. I can't fix a release date at present as both teams (or the unified RCTM team) are working on the release of the next Realcopy - due in a week or two.

Another reason why we aren't just going to start releasing RCTM is because in order to integrate both products, it takes some time. Although the architecture of the two products are similar, we can't just slap the two together and make them work. Some features in AX64 and RC need to be taken apart, adapted and re-integrated. We'll be working on different components of Realcopy and AX64 and shall be integrating them gradually. It is likely that the first increment of RCTM released to you guys will be missing some features from both the latest versions of Realcopy and AX64.

In other words, it's probably best to give you guys first - the best of Realcopy and the best of AX64 before we start giving you the worst of RCTM. If you catch my drift :)

Hope that answers your questions guys!

    Thanks,

    Waj

So wajamus those of us who have AX64 installed on windows 8, do you see any problems in downloading and installing the 8.1 win update due next week, and still having a working AX64 afterwards?

Just would like to thank the AXTM team for their support since they've "reappeared". If this kind of behavior continues then it is a VERY positive sign. Also, thanks for being patient with all of us here. There is no way most of us can know what is entailed in writing a program let alone merging two together. I KNOW we will asked dumb or impossible things at time, thanks for putting up with us!

From what I read both programs were/are close to an update release so it makes sense to do the release. Also, in the AX64 case, the release is supposed to address the hot restore freezing issue so again, it makes sense to get this known bug taken care of.

And finally, I suspect that not everyone will jump to the new merged program. In fact, some may choose to continue using AX64 or RC for quite some time as a stand alone programs. In this case it would be real nice to have a properly and fully functional stable version of the existing program.

EDIT: I see Waj has addressed this and in effect said the same thing I have but I will leave my post anyway. Thanks Waj for your prompt attention to whats going on here. Much appreciated.

    Hi:

Why is the downloading page of ax64 time machine been removed or down? I went to the official site and clicked on download to get the trial and got a page of does not exist. So is ax64 time machine DEAD since the downloading of it has been removed??

Here is the message of download page:

    Hi talebou

AXTM is not dead...just in the process of a change due to the merger of AXTM with RealCopy. An update for each will be released shortly before the two products are merged to produce ONE new product, apparently called Real Copy - Time Machine.

I suspect that if you wait a while then download link will be re-enabled or you can log a support ticket about this using the Feedback & Support link in the top left hand corner of the Home page.

    Hope that helps?

    Regards

Concur with taleblou. Using that link gives the following:

    404 Error File Not Found

The page you are looking for might have been removed,
had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Indeed...just confirming that what was said was correct...file not accessible.

No doubt because a revised version will be available shortly...as Isso & wajamus have intimated. :D
