Lovely picture, I like that puppy although we can't have dogs. :(
That's true, you can't get the ants around the letters, but there's a trick to do it. :)

Ok, are you ready because it's not going to be easy.

    1. First insert your vector object
    2. Apply your text to the vector object
    3. Hide the vector object in your Layer palette
    4. Go to Selections > Select All
    5. Go to Selections > Float
    6. Apply your effects, colors, filters, ...
    7. Show the vector object again by unticking the eye in your Layer palette
    8. Select your Text Tool and right click on the text in your Layer palette to Convert As Single Shape
    Now continue with the rest.

Well, I'm still looking for that one.
I've simply forgotten how to do that.
As soon as I find it again I'll let you know.
Didn't have much time lately. :doubt:

When I get to this part......
"Convert as Single Shape" isn't lite up for me to be able to click on. http://www.foroedonkey.com/vb/images/smilies/pensando.gif

Also, do I need to go back to Selections.......and click on "select none"
to get rid of the ants first??

    No big deal.......whenever

Ok Cindy, I found it back how to do it for those character shapes. :p

    1. Select a letter in your Layer palette
    2. Go to Selections > From Vector Object
    3. Go to Selections > Float
    4. Apply your effects, filter, colors, ...
    5. When done, go to Selections > Select None
    6. Repeat the process for the rest

Attention: First move your letters to their position, otherwise they will duplicate when moving.

    Get creative. :D ;)

Not necessarily, but you can do that too.
You always have to deselect your selection afterwards to continue with the rest. :)

Did you select your text in your Layer palette after you applied your effects, because I'm not having this? o_O
Don't use the Deformation tool, otherwise it won't work. ;)

Thanks for the screenshots, but you can always use the printscreen and then crop. No need to use a digital camera. :)

From what I've seen you're doing something wrong.
Could you merge your picture after you've applied your borders and effects?
Just before you start to add the vector shape = ellipse or another one.

Not easy to understand that history, but here's mine.
If it doesn't work, I'll post step by step instructions (screenshots) later on. ;)

On your second screenshot your vector object is still visible when you try
    to Convert as Single Shape.
That won't work, the ellipse has to be hidden. ;)

Edit: Be sure to select the Text in your Layer Palette afterwards.

Well done, we sure need a break after having performed all those actions. :D
The printscreen is a button on your keyboard. :D
Just press the button and paste it into Irfan, PSP or whatever.
    Crop afterwards.

Have a nice weekend Cindy & family. ;)

Well, it beats using a digital camera every time.
No flash in the screen too and a clear image, although I always use my screen capture program. :D
My utmost pleasure learning you these little steps into PSP. :-*
Computers can do a lot, but not everything.
Wish it could, I simply hate doing the laundry, dishes and above all the ironing. :doubt:
You're really becoming a very good, attentive student.
Look at what you've accomplished to do with only some simple lessons on text.
There's more to come, not only on text, but also using all kind of tools.
Not immediately of course, but step by step I'm going to increase the difficulty level.
I'm sure you'll be able to follow the lessons the way you've been absorbing the rest.

For now all you've to do is practise to get better, which you are already doing btw. :D

    Well done Cindy. ;)

Not a lesson on text, because you've seen most of it.
There's still one to come, but that's for later when I learn it too. :D
LOL ... there's still so much more you can do.
A lot of lessons on text (other then mine) can be found on the internet.
Some for beginners and a lot for advanced users. :(

To keep you happy for a while :D, here's a little lesson on how to apply masks.

    1. Take a picture of your choice
    2. Go to Layers > Load/Save Mask > Load Mask from disk
    3. Choose the mask to apply to your picture
    4. When applied, delete the mask in your Layer palette
    5. Now you can go to Selections > Select All and afterwards Float to apply effects and other -
or you can copy the selection (eventually with effects applied) and paste it into another picture as a new layer.

Have fun with it Cindy. :-*

    WOW!! Thanks Eric!!

OK.......first try.... and I've made it all the way to step 3!!!

    That's good for me!http://img115.exs.cx/img115/9916/z4dwink.gif

OK....well, after I've appy the mask (those are really cool!! by the way) and then try to delete it out from my layers
(you mean click on the eyeball, right?)
Well, the mask that I've just applied to the picture erases too.

Also, when I first started to try to apply the mask....I get one of those "Auto Action" things come up.

    Not so easy, isn't it.
Well, I don't mean the eyeball. I actually mean deleting the mask in your Layer Palette. = Press Delete.
If you don't delete the mask, it stays active. :doubt:
Yes, that's normal. Just allow it.

Give it a try or else if it doesn't work out I'll post a tutorial. :)
