    Hey Eric,

    I tried the last lesson.

    I used the ellipse shape......and added my text around the top.

    Then, I got the pen tool........right clicked on the bottom part of the shape.......selected the reverse path.

    Well, there something we're forgetting.....because, as soon as I click on that.......it moves my first text around to the left side of the ellipse.......like rotates it.

    I tried clicking on the eyeball to hid it.........didn't work.

    What I'm trying to do is put "Sam's" across the top
    and "Dream" across the bottom. http://img115.exs.cx/img115/9916/z4dwink.gif

    Thanks!!

    When you select the Pen tool, select first the node before you right click to select Reverse path. :)
    Be sure to select the Vector text and to use a Preset Shape, like the ellipse in my example.

    Cool car. :D

    Rita, well done on your first selfmade GIF. :D

    Oops! I forgot to mention something IMPORTANT in my lesson. Thanks for posting this. :oops:

    When you insert your first text select the layer, right click
    and Select Convert Text to Curves > As Single Shape.

    Afterwards select the ellipse and follow the lesson.

    My apologies Cindy. ;)

    Its still moving my text!

    I'm trying to put the black arrow everywhere on that red line and/or around the bottom of the redish black circle .......... on the squares .... on the dotted lines.........it keeps doing the same thing. (moves the Sam)

    I have noticed that some places I put it....I get a little squiggley line under it (like this ~)
    and sometimes I get the cross look'in thing.
    Do those mean anything?

    Maybe I'm not understanding what a 'node' is....http://img116.exs.cx/img116/934/z0tdntknw.gif

    Sorry, Eric........I hate, when I can't make it past the first step.

    1. Create your vector shape = ellipse
    2. Insert your text by touching the border of the ellipse
    3. Select the text in your Layer Palette and right click on that layer. :)
    It's the other option where you select to Convert as Character Shapes discussed in a previous lesson.

    Remember the little piddies. :D ;)

    p.s.: I'll try to update my lesson later on.

    LOL! We'll talk about that later [IMG]

    Eric!!!

    I'm still stuck on step 5

    When I do step 3 .......... I lose my red dotted square around my text.......and each letter in my text has the red around them.

    So, I don't have the Ellipse with the nodes on it to click on.

    My screen looks just like yours and I have the black triangle as my curser.........does that help??

    I'm sorry, I'm try'in

    http://img116.exs.cx/img116/934/z0tdntknw.gif

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Also, I've noticed that I can draw....... like I do for cropping and stuff.......with the black curser now..........am I supposed to be drawing something??
    Okidoki :D
    No panic, you still have the text selected (it's for later). :)
    Select the ellipse in your Layer palette and that red will disappear.
    Be sure to convert that text to Single Shapes, before applying the next step.
    Choose the Pen tool now and select the node.
    Right click on it to see the menu.
    No need to feel sorry. I told you this lesson wasn't so easy.
    Still a lot of options to apply on text. :cool:
    <Select the ellipse in your Layer palette and that red will disappear.>
    Yep, this worked.
    <Be sure to convert that text to Single Shapes, before applying the next step.>
    But as soon as I do this.....they just show up again.
    Also, nothing is happening when I click on the nodes with the pen.
    Should the black arrow on the curser change to facing right??
    Its not do'in it
    its not goin so well, huh? http://www.foroedonkey.com/vb/images/smilies/pensando.gif
    Before selecting the ellipse, did you convert to Single Shapes?
    Yes, they will show up again, but as soon as you select the ellipse in your Layer palette it will go away. :)
    When clicking on the node it will display an arrow facing to the left. You'll have to right click on the node and performing the actions in the lesson to Reverse Path, so the arrow will point to the right.
    It takes time to do it right, so no hurry. :)
    Follow the steps one at the time and compare the result on your screen.
    Got to go now, almost 1 a.m. ;)
    Hey!! Eric!!
    Look at this! I did it!!
    What was throw'in me off is.........when you said that the arrow would change and face the to the right. Well, mine never did.
    So, to prove the point........I was show'in Steve that it wouldn't work.
    ~now this happens all the time to me when I'm trying to show him that something is wrong with the car or something........the car always acts badly until Steve gets in the cars or takes it for a drive.........then, of course the problem magically disappears (personally, I think its some sort of conspiracy between Steve and the car.......like some cruel joke they're in on together......just to drive me crazy!!)
    So, now I know there's this same conspiracy going on between him and this computer......actually, I've kinda thought this for some while now.......how come he can always fix this thing and I can't.......how come this thing always 'Beeps" at me, and not him.........its a game all this stuff plays against me....I know it!! Steve just acts likes he doesn't see it! Kinda like that Chuckie doll that only came to life when that poor little kid was in the room alone or he was the only one looking at it.
    http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/andysexplorerlogos/gifs/chuckie.gif
    SEE!! I bet you guys don't even see his eyes moving ..... do ya??http://bestsmileys.com/eek/3.gif
    Anyway......so, as I was trying to show Steve how this lesson won't work right for me just like all the other 50 times I tried to do it!!.......of course it worked the first time I tried it infront of Steve.
    Yippie.........
    yea whatever :rolleyes:
    All I can say is.......its a CRAZY!! world out there.........and I think Marja and I are the normal ones!
    Its not pretty........but, I did it![IMG]
    Congratulations Cindy, you did well on your 51th try. :D
    No, all joking aside it's really great. It's not one of the easy lessons, so I understand perfectly you having trouble with it.
    It will only become better by doing it over and over again, until you're satisfied with the result. :rolleyes:
    I've attached a picture to show what it does.
    The arrow had to be reversed, otherwise it would never have worked for your picture. o_O
    Steve must have the magical touch, like they call it. :blink:
    I've seen that movie, but I'm not into horror. Can't sleep when I watch something like that. Same goes for my wife. :doubt:
    That must have been really embarassing for you. :oops:
    It's a start. You can't get it perfect on your first success.
    Let's see what your next will be. I'm sure it will improve in time. :-*
    :D :D :D ... Now I understand why it wouldn't work.
    Trial and error as they say.
    You did very well on that picture.
    Cute one too. Surely Rita will like it a lot. :cool:
    Hey Eric,
    Here's another one of those half done pictures.
    I've pretty much got the last lesson down.....(if I keep looking back at your post of course)
    Now, what I'm trying to do is add some kind of effects to the letters.
    I tried adding an inner bevel to the 'Puppy' after I put it on the picture.......but, then I couldn't get the ellipse thing to work right again to add the "Nap."
    So then after I added all my text........I thought I could use the magic wand to get the "ants" around each letter one at a time to change them. But, it is only letting me do the P even when I click on another letter...it just keeps putting the ants around the P
    http://www.foroedonkey.com/vb/images/smilies/pensando.gif
    Any ideas??http://img116.exs.cx/img116/934/z0tdntknw.gif
    Oh yea, I also tried doing the thing where you put the red box around each letter......(ya know....remember.....this lesson ) But, then I couldn't figure out how to change the letters with the effects. Can you only change the color of the letters with that? You said in that lesson that I should beable to change Effects.......I'm not seeing how to do that.
