Please, hopefully someone with the technical skill will pick this up! I would gladly pay for another license, lifetime or other!

Re alternatives, nope Kyle, agree with others above that nothing else comes close. PatchMyPC is nice, but doesn't do the job SUMo does.

Like everyone else here, I am beyond dejected to hear this news. But I suspect that only a subscription model would work to compensate adequately for what SUMo provides. SUMo represents not so much a software product as it does a service. Yes, the code is important, but it's the data that provide the core value. And the vagaries of the schemes software product developers use to identify versions is such that the data need constant tending to work out irregularities. That tending requires skill and savvy that no menial hireling off the street would have (every day we see the tending process underway in this forum.) So, the tending is costly.

Is there a market big enough to support a business model capable of making SUMo and DUMo a profitable enterprise? I don't know the answer to that.

EmsiSoft complained, but I just tried MajorGeeks Software Updater (again). It let me know (ironically) that UCheck update was available, so MSU may be my only option now. (Though SUMo is better in that it only notifies of relevant updates).
Kyle - maybe you can ask Adlice (developer of UCheck) if he'd like to add your string to his bow? I'd pay for it then! upload_2023-9-12_10-51-33.gif

Sorry to hear this. I assume the software revenue did not cover the costs for providing this service. I will miss it. I think making a free version for so long probably lead to this situation. Wish you all the best and thanks for being so tireless fixing various issues that were reported here.

Guys,I was thinking that a partial solution might be to use the command-line tool:

    Code:
    Winget
If you want to check the (found) list of your installed programs run the command:

    Code:
    Winget list
    5.jpg

    And then for any updates:

    Code:
    winget upgrade
To me it finds about half of the software I wish to keep updated.
    9/17.
Although unfortunately of Thunderbird notifies me of a beta upgrade.
    :thumbd:

A solution would need to be found for the softwares to be updated in portable format.;)

That's typically why WingetUI could be an interesting option. UpdateHub seems promising as well. VulnDetect / UCheck / PatchMyPC as well established alternatives too.

UpdateHub unfortunately does not show a list of updated or to-be-updated softwares.
VulnDetect doesn't even start in my pc.

    Hi everyone.
I know some of you heavily rely on SUMo to update their software.
I've been contacted by some long term contributors to see if UCheck could help being a decent replacement after SUMo EOL.
I wanted to let you know we're ready to discuss and see how we can improve UCheck to fulfill any misses. We are already deploying some new features, and will continue.

Could you list some serious alternatives to SUMO? Of course, the best would be some kind of continuation of SUMO. Is there any hope for that? I also use PatchMyPC. It is good, but it knows very few of my programs.

@Kyle_Katarn Do you plan to shut down the server(s) “immediately” at November 1?

(Or will we be able to enjoy SUMo a bit longer, but in an unsupported state?)

Kyle, thank you so very much for providing SUmo to us. A person doesn't know how much he depends on something until it is gone. Thank you for all of the years. Best of luck in your future endeavors.

    Hi Kyle_Katarn:

Further to dking02's 01-Nov-2023 post in Tigzy's UCheck - Update your software in 2 clicks, should SUMo users expect to always see the following server error message when they try to check for available updates after SUMo reaches end of life on 31-Oct-2023?
