First of all have to turn on Java-script, then Ublock Origen is blocking 46 items, not to metion what Adguard is blocking.
I won't go further with them.

    Hey,
I realize there's no news thread for UCheck :)

Software can be downloaded here : https://www.adlice.com/download/ucheck/
It's a software updates manager, able to recognize most of the installed programs and search for available updates. You can also update them all in 1 click.
Very useful after a removal help to cleanup all possible exploits on 3rd party plugins and stuff.

    https://www.adlice.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/ucheck_3.jpg

    Version 3.1 is now available:

    Code:
    V3.1.0 01/29/2019
    =================
    - Updated to core 3.0.1
      * Now using Scheduled task to run as admin at startup
    - Improvment: Installer now kills existing processes before replacing the files
    - Fixed: Support form not sending proper Program name
    - Improvment: Exit button icon
    - Refactored notifications (removed useless ones)
    - Added marketing table (easier to understand Premium features and differences with Free version)
    - Fixed: renewal link for Technician
    - New: Added better notifications
    - Fixed: Translations (French, Spanish, German)
    - Improved support for high DPI screens (V2)
    - Added support for .lic file (registration)

Found 419 programs, only 5 updates. However, about 80-90% of those 419 programs (exes) were microsoft ones, such as random exes from visual studio installations etc. https://i.lensdump.com/i/AwVyK2.png , and the location only showed the path for like 20 programs, all the other ones were empty

For comparison, KC Sumo found 458 exes (and the path to the exe shows for all of them), and found 138 updates. Ofc, just like ucheck, majority of those 458 were "fake" ones. Of those 138 updates, only around 20 were real ones, the other ones were fake, like this https://i.lensdump.com/i/Aw9VKx.png

The 5 updates ucheck found, were 7-zip, notepad++, paint.net, k-lite codec and skype, pretty "general" programs, nothing too specific. So that leads me to think, that ucheck have a list of programs they monitor for updates in their database, rather than check it dynamically like sumo does (that's why majority of sumo's updates are not real ones)

The windows updates were spot on however, it even found a silverlight update I don't need (kb4481252), but that's a good thing, because some other time it might find an update I actually want that I didn't know I was missing, since windows updates did not show me the silverlight update, but it just so happens I don't use silverlight, if it was something I use, I'd definitely want that update

Overall, ucheck takes way less time than sumo, as you press scan, and then you only see real updates, whereas with sumo you have to spend additional time separating the real ones with the fake ones (easier if you make proper exclusions). And if you use mostly general / popular programs, ucheck is a good choice. Not for me though. Also ucheck can download and/or install the programs for you, sumo only tells you there's an update (which is how I prefer it, I'd rather manually install)

Happy to see that you're satisfied with SUMo :)
uCheck is likely a good competitor anyway.

To be honest, i'm active on this community, and i sincerely consider uCheck as a real decent product. Not targetting exactly the same use case / workflow / user's base :)

Hello, as you guys may know, SUMo (a "competitor" is putting an end to its dev).
I'm updating this thread to help people understand the differences between UCheck and SUMo, answer questions, and see if there's misses we can fix.

As of today, we support 250+ software. It may sounds like it's not a lot, and that's true, however for the soft we support we do:

    - Recognize, display in case of new version available
    - Update existing version, by downloading and installing (silent mode) the setup from official sources
    - Install from scratch, by downloading and installing (silent mode) the setup from official sources

In a very near future, we'll also support recognition, update and install of portable versions for those software.

    :) Download UCheck: https://adlice.com/ucheck

First, the program database should be developed. That's what sumo software did best.

As far as I know, SUMo works in a very different way: They upload the programs list to their server, then do some version comparison and statistics to determine if a new version is available.
This has 2 downsides: It requires some users to first update manually for all others to receive the updated numbers.
Also, it doesn't allow to do bulk updates, or even automatic updates directly from the software.
This is why we do it on our side, and maintain this list. This is also why the compatibility list is much lower. People not only want to know there's a new version, they want us to take care of the update.

Something we will do to accelerate things is to collect programs list on UCheck scans and upload it.
That will give us a "priority list" for new software to be added, based on number of hits per software.

Hi Tigzy, firstly let me say I am very pleased you are willing to step into the breach about to be left by the EOL of SUMo.
I fully understand your approach wrt recognition and updating of software.

However, when it comes to my large library of portables, many of which may be relatively unknown, Kyle's approach is more suitable for me.
I am less interested in the actual updating in this case, than being notified that an update is available. I will then do the download and update myself.

It is these portables, not updatable via PortableApps or SyMenu - or other obscure programs not detected by UCheck and PatchMyPC - that are the issue.

If anyone has detected an update, as I may have, using Ketarin for example, it will show up for others in the SUMo database/list.

So I wonder if you could maybe combine approaches, and expose the 'priority list' you mention, even if only as an option, for those who have a similar requirement?

I have a lot of portable programs kept in one folder on my computer, with Sumo you could scan that folder and then all programs in it would be added to Sumo's list of programs to check. Any chance of something like this happening? Thanks.

    @Tigzy

    Welcome!! :)

    I have three questions:

    1. Why is Edge displayed in 32 bits?
    2. LibreOffice seems to be up to date but instead is to be updated.
    3. Is it possible to hide the various softwares in the list?
Does UCheck, even when used in portable format, notify users of any updates to the same software?
