I wonder if anyone is using this www.opendns.com and can talk about it
A few past threads...
Open DNS ( opendns.com ) (4 pages)
Open DNS ?
Anyone use OpenDNS?
OpenDNS - can anyone explain?
I followed the links and this seems quite interesting. I would like to try this but perhaps someone more experienced than this total newbie can answer my query. I read the 4 pages of the long thread but most of it is either beyond me or does not address my concern.
Are there any implications when using this opendns with respect to internet banking or using a host file?
Open DNS prevents phishing and DNS poisoning, its actually safer to use it and faster instead of ISP's DNS.
It has a lot od categories you can block.
i use it,
and browsing is nice and fast.
I use it since the beginning and works great!
I am using their servers in conjunction with Bind here in SUSE 11.... Works very well, no lookup delays, etc...
Yes and since it also block downloads from those webpages, then it is like anti-malware protection, which actually can not by bypassed locally.
What he said -- agree totally.
