I've been using it here lately, and it's not half bad, although for certain sites I need to use Firefox or Chrome because it doesn't work well on some. But I'm surprised how decent it has become recently. It's faster than Firefox on a number of sites. I think MS will be putting most of their efforts into Edge in the future, and nearly none into IE. They're already discontinuing support soon for a number of the older IE versions.

A decade late and a dollar short.

I'm just amazed at how they announce features as if they are new when other software has been doing it for years (PDF anything, hiding ads, etc.).

I think extensions will give Edge a boost, but the problem is that browsers like Edge and Chrome are not customizable. So for me Firefox and Vivaldi are the only options. And to be honest, I also don't really trust Google and M$, at least not completely.

Has anyone had a change of heart and started using Edge after [some] extensions were added after the Anniversary Update?

Initially, Edge was my browser of choice for Facebook and Google usage (separate from Firefox), but it was laggy, it slowed down a LOT after a few tabs were opened, and I really don't like how when I select a link in the address bar the whole link changes (e.g. from google.com to https://google.com) and I lose my selection and I'm forced to click the address bar before copying the link.
Then there's another issue: not being in full control over the browser. No deleting specific cookies or history entries, no good Addon selection, no good customization... it's dull. Microsoft tried once again to re-invent the wheel and they did a terrible job on it. I would never trade Firefox/Chrome/Opera for Edge, not in a million years.

Now I use Seamonkey as my secondary browser.

I think Edge is a perfect analogy for Windows 10 - a work in progress, a long way from finished.

I use it sometimes when I cannot access a website or do something in my main web browser (Google Chrome).

I'm using Edge exclusively on Win10 and I've never had problems with it and Flash is disabled though I didn't require any extensions, now after the update I'm finding it better still and the Adblock ( Betafish ) extension app works faultlessly as does the Translate app.

    Hi Krusty13.

Up until Windows 10 Anniversary update, I was using Internet Explorer as the primary browser. I didn't fancy Edge mainly because of no ads filtering capabilities. I do a lot of browsing, and I hate sites cluttered with advertisements.

I personally believe they have really done a fine job with the Edge w/Windows 10 AU update. True Edge still little green around the gills. I don't pretend to know how Microsoft works with programming various products and maintaining. From ignorant standpoint, I'd assume there's a bit of work that's spread-ed across various Windows 10 apps and such.

Clearly the utmost important areas like performance, stability and security.. Edge is very impressive and IS NOT half-baked.

From personal observations; I typically have 20 TABs simultaneously opened to heavily loaded pages. I find it incredibly stable and speedy. I use mostly Edge to browse questionable or unfamiliar sites, but I do still also use Internet Explorer to access known trusted sites in my favourites that I've not yet carried over to Edge. There's disappointment with regards to Edge Favourites bar works little different than IE, that you can't access sub-menus like in IE. Clicking required, and now it opens the Edge sidebar to that folder listing. I'm not crazy about this, I can learn to live with it, but I prefer an hope this behaviour can be customized later on.

I'm not sure why @amarildojr experiencing loss of selection when clicking on the address bar. With different computers, when I left or right click on the address bar. Everything is automatically selected and ready to be copied or replaced with a new address to be either typed or pasted in.

I don't think you realize the importance to see and able to change protocols from HTTP to HTTPs and vice-versa. Also to replace the entire URL including it's protocol with something entirely different protocol like FTP. I would be very frustrated if it worked the way you would preferred it.

I think its easy for people to want to see more customization and in such short periods of time. I think primary focus which was with performance, stability, and security, and to this aspect Edge excels at.

When I just need one click, then yes, it's fine. However, for numerous times per day I need to click and while clicking drag the mouse to select only a specific section of the link. That is when the link changes from "foo.com" to "https://foo.com", making me select only "https://f" because the link has changed.

I'm not able to reproduce this. When I click and hold at the front of the URL, before even the protocol appears. The protocol then appears after my initial mark, so I'm highlighting and copying the URL including with the protocol.

When running Edge on a computer with AU installed, with a slow CPU, I was very impressed at how fast it was when I was scrolling through pages on a fairly heavy website with Page Up and Page Down. It was much faster and smoother than I would have expected from a slow CPU. Chrome was slower on the same pages, with very noticable lag.

Same experiences every-time, and also with Tablets certified for Windows 8.. now using Windows 10 AU.

Edge is my primary since AU. I'm just loving AdBlock Plus. I use Google search provider, and because I'm not using Chrome, I'd get hit with that top-right of the screen the ad to fetch Google Chrome browser. With AdBlock Plus, no sweat to stop that. :)

There seems to be a communication problem here. Either I didn't explain myself correctly, or you didn't get what I'm trying to say :p
    Either way, I recorded a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMJrtz_CDfw&feature=youtu.be

LOL! the YouTube shown it perfectly.

I'm always copying from the very left. Therefore I'm actually getting the protocol, without first needing to click on the address bar. However I've just noticed that trying to get in the very front of the protocol on a protected site, where you see a lock at the beginning in the address bar. It'll either trigger full URL selection, or I'm missing the H in HTTP.

Anyways, If I'm going to be copying the address, it'll either be the complete URL or first part of it, over to the end of the domain name. Not something in between :shifty:

Recently I made Edge my default browser but for most use I still much prefer Cyberfox. Maybe when Edge gets a few more extensions and we can add more filters to ABP I might use it more, but for the time being Edge is still just a novelty for me.

I do use Edge to read PDFs though.

if you don't have special requirements in design and usability; there it is why Edge is better than FF (or non-tweaked chromium-based browsers) in term of security: Appcontainer

Never. MS always provides just a basic functionality for all its apps and that is it. It might be fine for some, but not for me. I need something more.
