Just updated to KIS 2011. Runs light and smooth. The new "safe run" is indeed a great feature.

I am very interested in how stable KIS 2011 is. I got tired of the "database corrupted" problems and ditched 2010. Its detection rates are at or near the very top, and since I have a couple of years left on my license I wouldn't mind using KIS 2011.
However, I am using a trial of another suite, and am going to wait for another 3 weeks to see how KIS 2011 performs.

    Regards,
    Jerry

It is good but still needs some critical updates.

i am talking about the ability to not install specific modules, also not being able to autoamtically have IE8 start in saferun. But it is light and a hell of a lot quicker.

[also not being able to automatically have IE8 start in saferun.]

I don't understand that. Please explain. Thanks.

He might be talking about the IE directly starting in sandbox. Like a sandboxed browser (in sandboxie):doubt:

zfactor, sorry my mistake. I am on a snapshot trialling it now and indeed it doesn't offer customization of protection components during installation. Protection components can be disabled through protection center. It seems a very nice suite though.

I was still solving some issue with KIS 2010 with support, once it is solved I'll try 2011.

Not in 2011 version, they said it will be back in Critical Fix 1.

I just installed a trial version of kis 2011 and noticed that the anti banner is disabled by default.

Why ? Did this module cause problem during beta tests ?

Not everyone likes it. Because they use a browser anti banner

Customized install is an option but when I installed it over KIS 2010 and selected Custom Install, it never gave the option to selectively install components. This is pretty ridiculous for a final version.

However, other then that it's running great.

Custom install checkbox is only if you want to change default install dir. Nothing more.

    Adding the shortcut ""C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Internet Security 2011\sbstart.exe" -silent 2 "[IE8 location]"", eg ""C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Internet Security 2011\sbstart.exe" -silent 2 "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"" would do the trick.

Don't know why its not in the GUI though, would be convenient to have.

it seems to me that with all these little bits missing in the "final" release, they rushed releasing it to final somewhat... u shuldnt release a product as the final product if it doesnt include everything that its supposed to and then set it off saying it will be added in a update along the way.

Hi zfactor. I tested them both very recently and although KIS is running very smoothly, I don't think its lighter than avast, even with some modules disabled.
