    Interesting friendly tonight

    FULL TIME:

    Netherlands 2 vs 1 Mexico

Si si...Quite dangerous at first...but we drowned the caterpillar after all ;) -TEQUILA!

    20' Jared Borgetti 0-1
    54' Johnny Heitinga 1-1
    56' Ryan Babel 2-1

In the first half we saw a completely different Oranje line-up than last Saturday against Cameroon: Marco van Basten is giving his 2nd choice a chance, resulting in an awaited 0-1 at halftime.
But now we're putting things back in order again ... :D

    ~to be continued~

A little blurb from the local newspaper,

That many fans just to see a practice? Is this normal?

The Germans are definitely psyched. :shifty: :D

    LoL,

yeah, i can't speak for all of Canada but here in Toronto, being so diverse, all the talk is Football. And this is in a country that all but once, never gets a sniff at this tournament....

Even where i work, the Ghanians are talking up the Italians already over their "soon to be" first game in the tournament. They are very confident, even though never qualifying for WC ever in the past.

Coming sunday the European soccer final will be played in Bessa between Oekraine and Netherlands.
These are all players younger than 21 years.

Well we have a final anyway then :ninja:

And for the worldcup in Germany some other news from the Ukraine.

If Ukraine's players want any, um, quality time with their wives and girlfriends during the World Cup, they better play awfully well.

    :D

    Lol,

    Some funny readin here,

    http://torontosun.com/Sports/OtherSports/2006/06/04/1614046-sun.html

A couple of quotes from the page,

Three elderly soccer fans are saying a prayer for their teams. The first one asks, "Oh Lord, when will Germany next win the World Cup?"

God replies, "In the next five years."

"But I'll be dead by then," says the man.

The second asks, "When will America win a World Cup?"

The Good Lord answers, "In the next ten years."

"I'll be dead by then," says the man, sadly.

The third one asks, "Oh Lord, when will England next win the World Cup?"

The Good Lord answers: "I'll be dead by then."

Nothing like a little giggle to kick off the World Cup. We're going to need it. Guaranteed.

England has injury problems but none that compare in novelty with Spanish goalkeeper Santiago Canizares, who in the last World Cup, dropped a bottle of aftershave on his foot and damaged a tendon. Only in a sport where grown men kissing and rolling about in the grass is encouraged, can a guy get sidelined for using a scent that is too heavy.

Finally, we have the office pool. The one I'm looking at consists of three pages of rules and instructions. Fidel Castro makes shorter speeches than this. Look. We're Canadian. Tunisia's Ali Boumnijel is the tournament's oldest player at 40 and England's Theo Walcott, at 17, is the youngest but most of us wouldn't know a Romario from a Romeo. I've got better odds at Lotto 6/49 than picking a winner in this thing. But, back in the gene pool there's a dash of Danish and some William of Orange so my team is Nederland. Don't know why. It just is.

Oops! Gotta run. Dinner's on. Pickled herring on Delft blue plates. Yummy ... and pass the gouda.

See ya'll on Yonge Street. I'll be the doofus doing the wooden shoe dance with a Dutch flag wrapped around my head.

It makes sense. But you've got to be Canadian, and a soccer fan, to understand why it makes sense.
