33 frames? Are you sure you weren't celebrating xmast
while working on your animation? It sounds like
you finger kept pressing the duplicate button....

Just dropping by to say hello & wishing you all a Merry Christmas.

Wow, you've been all very busy posting splendid pictures. :D
I keep being amazed about what you've all learned in such short period.
I tend to struggle through all those lessons :D, but maybe that's because it's in English
or applicable to an older PSP versioin.

    Happy holidays :D

Marja - I find it hard to believe there is a place called camp sasquatch. If there were, I'm sure my parents would have sent me there (one way). Still, since you like my ornaments, it's all good!

I found Kind of a creepy plugin called "Gothic" at
    http://www.graphicxtras.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and the link is on the right.

Athough it may be a little dismal for the christmas season, it's bound to have uses at some point in the future. I would have had a field day with it if I had it for halloween.

    Where's the PhotoFiltre Talk?

Today, I came across this 'humungous' thread and after perusing it for almost 20 min all I see are PSP posts. Are there any PF posts in here? Just wondering, as I recently d/l PF and I'm trying to learn how to use it.

How does one remove red-eye in photophiltre? Not the human type, but the type you get when you photograph your dog or cat? I also use Gimp, but can't figure it out in there either.

I think red-eye is red-eye regardless of dogs, cats or humans. It's not as automatic in Photophiltre as some other graphics progs, but this was from the help file....

If any probs, post the pics and I'll fix 'em for you.

    Cheers and HTH.

Thanks very much Uguel... As you can probably guess, I'm a true beginner, so before spending money on photo-editing software, I d/l PF to see if I could grasp how to use it. I tried the Help but it really doesn't do the job in getting you started (like a tutorial would)!

    ...You're Welcome Cybershot!

    you said:
Well, the best way to start with Photofiltre is by doing their tutorials
that you will find on their website. You will learn the basics, how
to use the filters, the masks, and so on... This is what I did myself
to become familiar with the program. I found their tutorials were
well-explained and easy to follow for new users..Also, there are
many free add-ons that you will find for the program.

...it is true that this thread turns out to have dealt mainly
with Paint Shop and the reason for it is that most questions
that have been asked here were pertaining to Paint Shop
    and very little regarding Photofiltre.

    Here is their address

    http://www.photofiltre.com/

You will find English tutorials at their website. There is not direct
link to the tutorials but you will find them by looking at the left row
(3rd one) after entering their website.

    Hope this help.

True, but in a dog, the eye isn't red, sort of shiny like a star or something, almost bright white looking.

Hey Slovak, I guess that you mean something like this...right?

    http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/2650/repeffect053vh.jpg

ok, there is a red-eye plugin that can be added to Photofiltre
BUT since the eyes in the picture are green, it won't work.
I use to do it manually for animals. First I use the Magnifier tool
provided in Photofiltre (up in the Menu) and a brush to
paint into the eyes. There aren't lots of brushes provided
in Photofiltre but there are enough for the job we need to do.
The brushes are to be found to the left of the workplace
in the Tools Palette. Some those brushes can be resized and some
    come as they are.

    Here's a screenshot of what I did...(I modified one
eye only so you would be able to compare).
*I chose a soft brush to paint with white for
I did not want to have a solid white but rather
a white that looks more natural...some green
still shows a li'l bit but that's ok. But, for the
brown, black and white, I used solid colours.

    --------------------------------------

There are some pictures of dogs that have also red eyes in them,
if that being the case, you might add the Red-eye Beta plugin
that was specially created by a Dannish for Photofiltre.
You just have to download the plugin at this address
and unzip and install it in your plugin folder in Photofiltre.
There is supposed to be one plugin folder by default.
    http://www.photofiltre-studio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3416&highlight=red+eyes

    Here's the plugin creator comment:

"Remove red eye's from images, doesn't work 100% of the time because some photo's are difficult to do automatic.Left click with the pipet on a red-eye. The plugin will change the red to a rather dark color. If it changed to much, use the Less button ( or right click) to lessen the area, probably more than one ietration is needed. If there isn't changed enough, use the more button or to a second left click on the parts that are still red.
The undo button does remove the last left click with all it's corrections."

I did not see any plugin In English but this plugin
is very concise so I translated it for you.

    Defaire selection: Undo selection
    Moins fort : lesser
    Plus fort: Stronger
    Annuler: Cancel

Here is the redeye plugin at work.
..I tried it and it went well with the picture I had.

    http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/349/correctingredeyes16ts.jpg

--> Notice here that THAT isnt' t a dog picture but a picture
of a girl I found when browsing the Net. Of course, it can
be applied with any subjects that have red eyes.<--
If there's something that is not clear, just let me know.

I get what you mean now.....
It is different. Not just colour, but it appears to be virtually the whole eye, whereas in humans, it only really affects the pupil.
I didn't think this would be easy to fix, but interestingly, I tried it in 'Dig Image Pro' using the automatic one click red-eye thing and it worked...

    Yeux Rouges = Red eyes

Remember that "Yeux rouge" (red eyes) is a plugin.
You won't find it by default in Photofiltre
as I said earlier, you must download the
plugin first and then you simply put it in Photofiltre plugin's
folder or you create one there (if there isn't one already)

    ...from post 2214:

"you might add the Red-eye Beta plugin
that was specially created by a Dannish for Photofiltre.
You just have to download the plugin at this address
and unzip and install it in your plugin folder in Photofiltre.

    http://www.photofiltre-studio.com/fo...light=red+eyes"

    Here's how it displays:
    http://img472.imageshack.us/img472/650/redeyessc48oa.jpg

    - -> ... it works well with red and some other colours too but
not very well with some greens<----

And in case there's a colour that you cannot remove,
(when you cannot remove a colour, nothing would happen)
just use the brush by clicking on it and then a drop-down
menu will show with a few brushes. Now all you have to do is to
paint the eyes by starting by the iris, and then the pupil
after you selected the colour you want.

    http://img472.imageshack.us/img472/3566/redeyessc50uk.jpg

...I tried to find the English version of that plugin but coudn't
yet... that is why I translated the li'l menu of the plugin
    in post 2214.

Well, glad it worked with DIP with other colours than red for
I tried it in Picasa and it worked if the eyes are red only.:doubt:

"....it appears to be virtually the whole eye."

My guess is that for dogs and cats it's a different matter
because their pupils can get as big as their irises in the dark.;)

Actually, you'll notice that dogs and cats tend to make white/green reflections compared to the more reddish reflextions from human eyes. This has to do with their eyes addaptation for night vision. [Late addition: hee, hee, I see we both corrected you!]

    MORE ONE REMOVING PET EYE:
I am voluntarily on the about.com graphics news bulletins list, and by some amazing co-incidence they just sent me notification about a short article on the subject. Sue Chastain's tutorials are pretty good, I think, so check it out if you want to know more, at:

Hey, has anyone noticed that I like tiling programs and use them alot, and in all this time never remembered where I downloaded them...until now! You really should try out Crescent Moon's Filters. It contains several different tilers and some other effects, 11 in all. The author is Australian, by the way. I post an example of a tile I made very quickly...from a picture of some fish...

    They can be downloaded: http://www.freephotoshop.com/html/lindon_parker.html

They should just work if you put them in your plugin folder.

thanks handsOff for the red eye info and the filter's link!
I agree, for animals it's a different matter for their
retinas adapt to the change of light by expanding
and contracting much more than human beings.

Ok, I tried the Red eye plugin again today but in
an English version of Photofiltre. The French plugin
language has changed by default only by putting
the file in Photofiltre plugin. Very good. This is how
it is displayed in the menu...

    http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/2027/scredeyesdog50tn.png

I tried it again and it still worked well with red eyes subjects.

    http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/4158/scredeyesdog66dn.png

    http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/6567/scredeyesdog72qt.png

And again, There are some of those red eyes pics
that I could correct with the Photofiltre plugin Red Eye
and some of them I coudn't because they were
flashy blue or green eye pics only.

Notice that the plugin usually changes
red eyes to dark brown eyes by default when correcting,
which can not be true all the time, for some
subjects might have normal green or blue eyes in
real life.:( So that's why I like to work with
the brush either when the plugin refuses to work or when
it paint dark brown eyes to a subject who has
normal blue eyes in real life.:)
    ------------------------------------------------------------

Here is an extract of the cause of red eyes

    Cause of red eye

If you use a flash in a dark environment, you often get a red eye effect. This
is because the light of the flash is reflecting from the retina, which is covered
    with tiny blood vessels.

The more open the pupils are, the more red eye effect you get in your
photos. Red eye is more pronounced in people with light eye color. It is also
more pronounced in people with blond or light-red hair and in children.
When you take photos of animals, the red eye effect can be quite different.
Animals have a reflective layer in the back of their eyes behind the retina

called the tapetum. This layer enhances their night vision. The colour of the
tapetum gives you blue, green, yellow, or white eye effect. With animals, the
effect can have place even when the ambient light is sufficient to prevent it in
    humans.

    And red eye reduction tips:

If possible, avoid taking flash photos in a dark environment

    Use red-eye reduction pre-flash

Many cameras have a built-in red-eye reduction pre-flash that helps
reduce the incidence of red eye. Red-eye reduction works by having the
flash shine a light into the eyes of the subject prior to taking the picture. This
    causes the pupil to contract.

However, you have to make sure the subject is looking at the camera. If
not, this technique won't work. Also be wary of using red-eye reduction
feature when not necessary, because it may cause your subject to blink.
    Soften the light

Put a piece of tissue paper (prevent its direct contact with the hot
flashbulb) over the flash to diffuse its brightness. Some photography shops
sell flash diffusers. Use this method only on subjects that are close, because
    it reduces your flash range.

    Take more than one picture
The first picture will cause the eyes of the subject to contract.

Position yourself near a light source
When your subject looks toward the camera, the nearby light will make his
    pupils contract.

Turn on more lights in the room
The brighter the room, the more your subjects' pupils will contract.

Ask your subject not to look straight at the camera.(hard with animals, eh?)
Divert pets or babies so that they look away from the camera:

    http://graphicssoft.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=graphicssoft&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.colorpilot.com%2Fpeteye.html

    Hope this help.
