Yeah, interesting stuff coming out of China. Does the government there let their Internet users look at Wilders? Or, are we on the never never side of the Great Firewall?

Tried it out for a few hours. It ran around 8-12k for me on Win 7 pro 32bit. It seemed fairly light on the system.

AFAIK China strives to exert its control over internet blocking what it deems politically sensitive, not sure about forums or any other of a none political nature.

On my computer, it does detect EICAR on scanning, but not on download, unless real-time protection is set to "Strict."

So Baidu AV engine (local) + Baidu Cloud engine + Avira + their own HIPS ?
Looks quite interesting to test out.

    Re: Baidu Antivirus 2013 (Beta)

Thought they were in Hong Kong.
Here's why it makes a difference:
Under the principle of "one country, two systems", Hong Kong has a different political system from mainland China.[18] Hong Kong's independent judiciary functions under the common law framework.[19][20] Hong Kong Basic Law, its constitutional document, which stipulates that Hong Kong shall have a "high degree of autonomy" in all matters except foreign relations and military defence, governs its political system.[21][22] Although it has a burgeoning multi-party system, a small-circle electorate controls half of its legislature. That is, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong, the head of government, is chosen by an Election Committee of 400 to 1,200 members, a situation that will be in effect during the first 20 years of Chinese rule.[23][24][25][26]

As one of the world's leading international financial centres, Hong Kong has a major capitalist service economy characterised by low taxation and free trade, and the currency, Hong Kong dollar, is the eighth most traded currency in the world.[27] The lack of space caused demand for denser constructions, which developed the city to a centre for modern architecture and the world's most vertical city.[28][29] Hong Kong has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world.[5] The dense space also led to a highly developed transportation network with public transport travelling rate exceeding 90 percent,[30] the highest in the world.[31] Hong Kong has numerous high international rankings in various aspects. For instance, its economic freedom, financial and economic competitiveness, quality of life, corruption perception, Human Development Index, etc., are all ranked highly.[32][33][34][35][36][37][38] According to both UN and WHO estimates, Hong Kong has the longest life expectancy of any country in the world from 2012.[39]

    Re: Baidu Antivirus 2013 (Beta)

I just uninstalled Kingsoft av on an XP computer and then installed this, and it was by default set to normal, and to use Avira's engine.

I don't know why that wasn't the case for you. Maybe an updated installer was released since you downloaded it.

I am really liking Baidu so far.

Baidu seems very light on my comp. It's as light as Kingosft AV 2012 though Baidu doesn't have USB protection, anti-hacker and system vulnerability scans.

They have the same mindset as Apple; we can't compete, so we're gonna call the other technology crap!

Seriously, if companies are gonna keep the mentality of a kid, they might as well go out of business, cause that only shows they have nothing to contribute. -Show- us that you have something better, and you don't need to bash your competitor. I'm out.

A little competition is a good thing. Maybe this will inspire Kingsoft to get 2013 up and running.

No, it looks more like the other way around. Baidu appears to have furthered relations with Kingsoft. If I remember correctly, a Chinese company could development similar GUIs of a competitor without harm because the idea is to provide familiarity to customers.

On the other hand, I don't understand how the users on Kingsoft forum are lighting a wildfire about the product being abandoned. o_O
