I've also identified the boot delay caused by MBAM about 2 months ago, so I uninstalled all MBAM from all 4 of my computers. The boot time and response have been vastly improved. MBAM has not picked up anything either for its 5 months life. It's a total waste of resources.

I can also confirm that on my Windows 8 machine booting is definitely faster without MBAM even when using it on demand (removed it 3 months ago) quite frankly it is not needed as I have Sandboxie as my first line of defense. For the sake of argument, the other day I uninstalled Avira from my computer and compared booting time when installed and not: the delay is 3 seconds to see the desktop/metro and about 20 seconds to have the computer fully operational, an acceptable delay for my standards ( I use Avira antivirus suite without the mail and firewall module).

Wow... MBAM simply keeps digging themselves in, deeper and deeper. I regret my 6 licenses to it, and will likely sell them off on Ebay. Between MBAM's resource hogging, HTTP dropouts, slowing boots, and bugs - it's just becoming too much of a hassle. They are destroying what was once an effective, and reasonably good adjunct to an AV. Now with ESET (and others) detecting PUA/PUPS, MBAM is starting to lose it's usefulness.

Instead of MBAM you can use Hitmanpro, almost the same thing and you will have no issues with it at startup.

    Why would they do that?

And what does that have to do with the performance issue?

Just give them some time to fix the issue.

MBAM is back to being a on-demand, backup scanner for me. At least until HerdProtect is finalized, and they add their realtime components. I think MBAM folks need to stop, listen, and go back to the drawing board. Spend the next few months working on what is important..Part of that would mean making MBAM as light as feasibly possible, remembering it is merely an 'addon' and should be absolutely as small, and resource light as it can be. v2x seems to have introduced a whole lot of annoyances, and bloat, and that's the last thing we need here. Come on guys - go back to your roots!

Oh, Avira needs to do the same.. If I was in charge at Avira I would immediately implement a 'new direction' for the product.

    1) Freeze all new features/additions.. That means no optimizers, defraggers, other garbage.
    2) Allocate all resources to making the program as fast, and light as possible.
    3) Allocate resources to designing the best interface in the business.
    4) Focus heavily on PUP/PUA detections. Everyone hates these, they can really mess up a computer. Products that focus on them are highly desired (ESET, MBAM, etc). But if your product is bundled with a PUA (which Avira is), your standing in this area is deflated. It's a marketing failure. Remove it.
    5) Move it more to the cloud. I hate to say it, but this is the right direction. Panda is having a huge success with their 2014IS, it was built off their cloud system, and is actually quite remarkable. Follow their lead, but differentiate.

That's what I would do to put Avira back on track. Do all of that over the next 12 months. Then I would launch a new marketing strategy, more edgy, more friendly, more ... Global. Use pretty girls, hipsters, and clueless soccer moms as your baseline - then 'show' them how this is the one-product they want, that will keep them safe. The nerds will follow once they see how light/fast it is, and effective at PUA/PUPs like every nerd hates. Once all of this is in place, and sales gains are 10-20%+ per month, phase out the free version and don't look back. BTW, the two software firms I worked for as COO, and CMO respectively, had 80-90% sales gain quarters. So I speaketh from experience.

Both Avira and MBAM have listened to their users and are great programs. I'm certain they can grow just fine without your rant and arrogance in whichever topic you feel someone will listen.

ppl are just sharing their thoughts about the new version of MBAM. No need to start blaming people for that.
Time will tell. People can vote with their money.

1)Some new feature/additons should not frezz
2)sometime related to the first one!
3)i think new interface will got repaint as the current mac version which meet the new company image
    4)PUP I still questionable...,PUA Avira is or not,current maybe no(after removing ask)...,
I don't know you have been forget or not
Avira also have pup detection but is marked as APPL/ADWARE
5.)the current is enough, just need some additional implement(bundle proactiv in protection cloud and use it in all scan profile,More powerful detection, automatic retraining system),that enought,
not make anything stay in the cloud(just like Qihoo or other chinese type antivirus)(need to have a balance between privacy and security)

    thanks for the responses
can anyone tell me what is the cause of this case:

yesterday I was testing some malware package in malwaretips forum
Avira did nt detect some files in the folder
I sent them for analysis and Avira said the remnants were all malwares(it had been submitted before and there was no need for analysis)
I have the latest update of Avira, default setting, threat category:all selected
but my Avira is still not detecting the files
    I m not using Cloud service(the only reason I m suspicous)

    thanks in advance
