I'll be the first to ask... Do we have to uninstall 2.1 first?

Nope, it is possible to install it on the top of the version you have currently installed.

Install was fast, memory usage seems to be the the same (low). the new configuragtion options are looking good.
great job guys.
One question if i can, Adware/Spyware/Riskware are in the On-Demand options are now separate from the Potentially dangerous applications option. to what applications does this refers to?

Thanks again, excellent software.

Potentially dangerous applications cover especially tools for remote administration.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I'm not feeling brave, and didn't want to assume that 2.5 could be installed over 2.1.

I hope this doesn't turn into another aggravating KAV-like experience, where half of the command line tools I use get flagged as "riskware", because they do naughty things like terminate processes...

Does the use of alternative NTFS streams leave tags on the hard drive?

If you have KAV installed, REMOVE it before you install NOD32! Well, atleast on this pc anyway. I had to reload a (insert cusswords here) image.

No, enabling NTFS streams will only make NOD32 check in NTFS streams.

On what I see on a first look is that the heuristic was improved a bit mainly regarding trojans and DOS viruses. After the scan - if something was found suspicious - it automatically asks and then submits the files to ESET; nice feature
On Morphine 2.7 there is maybe an unpack error; I will contact Mike tomorrow about this.

Lightbulb Re: NOD32 2.5 - Comments & opinions

The Early Warning System feature is great, but it would be nice if it allowed users to view the data that was about to be sent, prior to sending it out (unless configured to send immediately, of course).

For example, I'd like to see a log--or at least a window--that showed what path names were about to be sent, what "operating system information", and so on. Basically, what Microsoft did with the Error Reporting service in Windows XP.

I install it over my Admin version and works fine.

With this version, have 2 reboots, my system startup was much more quick!!! Excellent...

One of many reasons because I love NOD32 is because their excellent programmers! You are the bests in this area...

Questions:
1. How can I disable the theme support for NOD32? I've some problems with that?
2. Why this new version installed the EMON?

Suggestion:
1. Why not make a pause button to pause a scan in on-demand?

Best regards and keep the excellent work

Hi Nameless,

NOD32 shows a confirmation window with a list of files evaluated as suitable for analysis before the files are actually submitted.

Just a write error in the Help:

Adware/Spyware/Riskware - enables detection of Adware (small programs which only downloads advertising inforamtion from the Internet), Spyware (programs which send out personal information over the Internet) and Riskware (tools that can be potentially exploited)

Feature wise it looks like some nice improvement. Especially the Spyware improvement. Edit: File size has gone up as well.

But looks like GUI has not changed at all for the newbees and it is stopping NOD32 get a good score in Magazine. ( Even though none of the magazine knows how to test AV anyway )

May be NOD32 V3 will give us some surprise ^^

Edit: May be because of added Spyware signatures so that file size has gone up? Anyone would test it?

1. Saw a new licence key feature in setup - gone send out licences keys now?? I only have a mail and a xls file.

2. To update - shall we use our licence or the beta25 licence that comes up automatically

3. Up to now - great !!!!! faster, less intrusive - I am impressed

Some more questions:

1. Why DMON doesn't have the "Optimize Scanning" feature of AMON? R: post 69
2. The cache of the "Optimize Scanning" feature only remains until we restart the windows, right? R: Yes.

Thanks

[EDIT: answered the 2º question; 1º question was answered...]

This is looking great. I am particularly pleased to now have EMON checking my IMAP email in Outlook 2002 and I am delighted you have not dumbed down the GUI.

So far running like a champ... The "optimize scanning" feature in AMON seems interesting.

Default New Command-Line Params Not Working

NOD32 on-demand scanner rejects the new /adware+ and /unsafe+ switches as being invalid.
