Default Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.3

We just released Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.3:
http://blog.cloudantivirus.com/2010/...antivirus-1-3/

Quote:
The main new features and fixes included in Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.3 are the following:

Malicious Web & URL Filtering. This feature blocks websites that push malware, exploits and drive-by downloads. It is available both in Free and in Pro Editions and is installed by the toolbar. Unlike similar solutions, this web filtering works at a low level so it works under all browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc. For those of you that didn’t install the toolbar but would like to install the Web & URL Filtering, you can download it from here and install it manually.

Unified Recycle Bin and Quarantine. Previously the Recycle Bin handled suspicious detections and the Quarantine handled deleted malware detections. This has been unified into a new Recycle Bin for ease of management. This is included in both Free and Pro Editions.

Automatic and transparent upgrades to new product versions, previously only available in the Pro Edition, this is now available in the Free Edition as well. All users of Free Editions versions 1.1.0, 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 will automatically and transparently upgrade to the new 1.3. See notes below for the upgrade schedule.

No more nagging advertising. After listening to many of you we have decided to turn off the nagging advertising popups prompting to upgrade to Pro Edition. If you want to support Panda Cloud Antivirus and wish to get the Pro Edition, you can do so from here, but we won’t bug you anymore from the popups.

Hot updating of behavioural blocking rules. In order to increase protection on the fly against new vulnerabilities and attacks and to fix false positives, hot updating of behavioural blocking rules allows faster response time in both the Free and Pro Editions.

Instant notifications of virus detections. Previously if Panda Cloud Antivirus encountered multiple viruses, it would delay its traybar notification and show them grouped. This behaviour has been changed so that the notifications are shown immediately.

Suspicious detection counter. Under the statistics window there’s some new counters for the different types of heuristics and behavioural detections.
New versioning format. Unified versioning format in GUI and other parts of the program.

Many bugfixes as reported by users in our support forum:
– Fixed issue with Windows 7 Start menu slow-down.
– Fixed Panda traybar icon disappearing.
– Fixed “you are not connected to the Internet” message when there is connection.
– Fixed issue when Free Edition users can activate behavioural analysis.
– Fixed slow-down and conflicts while playing Allods Online and AION.
– Fixed cloud-response time configuration which defaults to 30 seconds.
– Fixed constant accesses to the floppy disk drive.
– Fixed BSOD issue after install.
– Fixed bug while exporting an empty report to TXT/CSV.
– Fixed Conficker detection.
– Fixed BSOD while compressing malicious PDFs.
– Fixed translation errors.

There's a PRO license giveaway going on over at CNET:

Cheers!

Why are you doing this to me Pbust? I hat told myself that i would stick with my current firewall and Avast 5, and then you not only bring out a new version of PCAV but you also place a link to the GAOTD for the new version. Now i hat to take that offer...

LoL just kidding Pbust, thanks for the new version and the heads up for the giveaway.

Yes, right now the new installer is only available from download.com:
http://download.cnet.com/Panda-Cloud...?tag=mncol;txt
This is because CNET is doing the product launch and giveaway for us.

Tomorrow the rest of installers should be pointing to the new version.

many thanks for the giveaway Pro license.

Do you still recommend an initial scan with the new version?

Unless you are going to be doing a lot of intensive on-demand scanning, its not necessary to do an initial scan for normal, everyday usage.

@Pedro

Thank you Panda for the release and for the Pro license!

Can you tell me why killing panda2_0dn.exe is allowed? I mean this does not look like a good idea.

Also, I have an off-topic question. As per Google, website filtering is best done by clients installed on the computer rather than the DNS server. What do you think about this? Does Panda have any plans to come with similar services like Clearcloud DNS or Norton DNS?

@all

I'm getting an error on this page stating Error opening /proteccionBasica/proteccionBasica.jsp. Anyone else using IE8 facing it?

Hi Pedro
Sounds really good overall.
I don't mean to be a wet blanket but I think Avast has been web-filtering like this:

Malicious Web & URL Filtering. This feature blocks websites that push malware, exploits and drive-by downloads. It is available both in Free and in Pro Editions and is installed by the toolbar. Unlike similar solutions, this web filtering works at a low level so it works under all browsers
since their version 4.X.

cheers,
Pete (or maybe "Pedro")

Cool Re: Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.3

Good Morning ! Many thanks too Pedro and Panda for their generosity. I'm using the offered Pro-Edition...and also in tandem with Prevx with Safe-On-Line...and so far everything seems to be running harmoniously. Once again many thanks for the offer. Sincerely...Securon

I think three as far as I know:

PSUNmain.exe: Tray
PSANhost.exe: Main Guard
panda2_0dn.exe: Web Guard

PSANtoManager.exe: Only launches I think when Malware is Detected, atleast that is the only time I see it.

Thank you PBust. I have been a happy Panda Cloud user from the first beta editions and now I get to try the Pro version for a year. Getting my registration was really easy. I just have to figure out if I should upgrade my existing install and activate Pro or just install the latest version over the existing install. I'll figure it out.

Thanks again.

another question, does the free license start ticking the minute u finish the registration or does it start once u actually activate it in the product

I'm not sure if it's just me but I'm having problems running this with Comodo's firewall. I installed Comodo first, the PC ran fine then installed Panda and it keeps locking up. Any Windows services or programs become unaccessible. Can't load task manager, IE, Ctrl alt del does nothing, etc. This is on Windows 7x64. Uninstalling Comodo seems to fix the problem.

Other than that, very nice and thanks for the free license once again
