Hmm that installer seems to be malfunctioning. I uninstalled 1.1.0 (including removing the configuration files), rebooted & then ran the above installer. At the completion of the initail installation wizard (not the new second wizard - never got offered that one), instead of Sandman loading as it should, I got a UAC prompt asking me to allow sandman to run, I clicked yes, & Sandman launches but with an error that it fails to loads the driver - the taskbar icon has a red stripe through it & Sandman says - NOT connected. A reboot produced the same behaviour - a UAC prompt & then the driver not connecting. I have internet OK (as evidenced by this comment!) Have uninstalled.

Did you try opening the Sandman, clicking on the word Sandbox at the top left, selecting Maintenance, and then pressing Connect ?

As a follow up to my previous posting I uninstalled Voodooshield and DefenderUI. I then installed Sandboxie-Plus v.1.1.1. Unfortunately the same error appears as I previously noted. That is, no sandboxed Chrome, Firefox, LibreOffice. Edge opens as a white screen. I didn't do any further testing.

This time however, the notifications when I started Edge included a new one: SBIE2205. Therefore I cannot totally eliminate a possible impact by Voodooshield and/or DefenderUI on Sandboxie-Plus, but hopefully time will tell.

No, but good tip thanks! Just re-installed and same result exactly as I described above. Tried your suggestion and it came back with the same error box "Failed to connect driver" or something along those lines, so it can't connect rather than just failed to do that step. Tried again & same result. Clearly a broken installer me thinks.

Sorry about that the instaler would have a unsigned river and need a test mode.
i have re uploaded the instaler with a signed driver that should work out of the box

Thanks David, I downloaded it and saw the file size had changed so guessed that was a "yes".

See here for the steps I followed to install it, and see the result for 1.1.test. It is an identical result with this installer. HOWEVER on a hunch I re-disabled the fix for Windows 11 in the global settings, & instead copied PreferExternalManifest=msedge.exe,y into the default sandbox ini. Then I don't get that same error as per thethe image in 1.1.test & Edge loads, BUT, it is with the dreaded Edge banner. So basically the same as every other installer except for 1.1.98. Sorry :(

It seems your built in fix for windows 11 has got corrupted on builds after 1.1.2.

Have you tried to remove all PreferExternalManifest entries from your ini but ebable the fix template in the compatybility section
it now internally uses a different setting
    ExternalManifestHack=msedge.exe,y

if not please test that default scenario

Further to above, I just tried 1.1.test again and manually added PreferExternalManifest=msedge.exe,y instead of enabling the broken built-in fix, and this also loads with the Edge banner, so I can say that every installer since and including l1.1.1 loads the Edge banner, all except 1.1.98.

I also tried adding UseFileDeleteV2 &UseRegDeleteV2 to the default box ini on 1.1.test and with both set to y and both set to n I get the same result - the Edge banner. So sorry my responses aren't providing more help! I'm off to bed very soon, so may have to catch up with your replies tomorrow after work.

We were clearly typing at the same time so just read your response & the next response. The installers are out of the box, not overwrites, so there is NO PreferExternalManifest entry in the ini left at all. I'm removing all configuration files with each unsinstallation so the ini are new as per installer each time. The ONLY thing I tick is enable WFP in the wizard, and enable autodelete sandbox.

As per the previous page I linked you to above, I'm using I am using Windows 11 21H2 22000.708 - it was a windows update that turned Edge into a white box. If you remember you confirmed this yourself and that is how you came up with the PreferExternalManifest=msedge.exe,y that fixes it - as an alternative to disabling hardware acceleration and disabling win32 hooks which also fixes it, but breaks the find on page box. The problem with the banner loading in Edge is quite separate to the white box and this begins with 1.1.1. See here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-1-0-22.445247/page-3#post-3084362 down.

I have already tried 1.1.2x1 - see comment 108. If you have changed it since, I will try it again.

David I need to go - I will try that installer tomorrow. But if the built in fix for the windows 11 KB is the same as per 1.1.test and 1.1.2x1 then I can tell you the result already - It will load a white box with the windows 11 fix disabled, and it will load that error message as per the image in 1.1.test here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-1-1-1.445560/page-4#post-3087330
I won't be able to tell if the Edge banner is still there because I'll get the above error. The windows 11 fix on 99. 98 & 1.1.2 all work BUT load the banner.

EDIT: Ir's not just me that had the broken windows 11 fix with 1.1.test - bjm_ did too and he is on windows 10. See his result (the last one) - https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-1-1-1.445560/page-4#post-3087327

I'm not sure which issue you can't reproduce?? You were able to reproduce the white box previously hence the fix, so I'm assuming the Edge banner?

I can only reproduce the white screen without the fix on 1.1.0, on that test VM 1.1.1 works just fine and does not cause eider the banner nor any white screen problems.

    Hi,

VoodooShield and DefenderUI have nothing to do with Sandboxie. I have windows 10 Pro 21H2 and all three (VoodooShield, DefenderUI Free and Sandboxie) work perfectly.

I have not installed the latest Sandboxie version which is experimental. I use Sandboxie Classic 5.55.22 and both browsers firefox and edge work.

I do not use LibreOffice. I have Office professional 2016 and it works sandboxed.

The only issue may be if you use DefenderUI Pro with VoodooShield. VoodooShield must be used with DefenderUI Free.

I had not posted about the issues (with Edge, Libre, etc) I have been reading about this past few days because I thought they were supposed to be with W11 only, a few posts back in this thread someone made it sound like the issues also take place in W10.

So, FWIW, I am on an updated W10, as of right now, I am not experiencing any issue running Edge or Libre Office, or any program or performing any function that I do sandboxed. I am on Classic 5.55.21. Zero issue.

With Edge, I am not doing anything special, other than disabling Boost and Hardware acceleration. A few Edge updates back, Boost was re-enabled, when I realized that had happened, I disabled the setting back.

    HTH you, David.

The version where this issue started is 5.56.1 (or 1.1.1. in Plus) so that may be why you have no issues as you say you are using 5.55.21

Thanks, Stapp. Can you or bjm, tell me, 1. Is this issue happening in both, W10 and W11, or only in W11? And 2. Is this issue affecting Classic and Plus, or only Plus?

Thanks. In the thread you suggested to check, I found this: ps. Sandboxie-Classic-x64-v5.56.0 works well without these problems.

    It is a little confusing.

This template (Template=Edge_Win11Fix). is this something that was introduced in 5.56? Is this template enabled from Miscellaneous in Classic?

I am going to stay for a while in 5.55.21 but can you give me the answers. :)
