I have a Tor Browser on a USB stick and I am looking for a portable VPN app to put on the same stick, if that is technically possible. The idea is to tunnel Tor traffic through the VPN as it is sometimes suggested on the forums here, and take that USB stick wherever I need a bit of privacy. My privacy needs are modest, it is more like wanting to take a bath in private, rather than wanting to cover my tracks from the NSA
There used to be a portable OpenVPN, but that project has been abandoned. Maybe one of the links at http://portableapps.com/search/node/openvpn will be sufficient.
Sorry, no such luck finding a portable VPN. The closest that I've come was this device and it's not available to the public: is there free portable vpn to use? Thinking outside the box though, I've seen some articles talk about using the raspberry Pi and other portable microchip computers. There are plenty of articles available with how-to, but I haven't experimented with this yet. http://readwrite.com/2014/04/10/raspberry-pi-vpn-tutorial-server-secure-web-browsing/
How about something like Windows-To-Go https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_To_Go where you put OS, VPN client, Tor Browser on the USB stick? What variations (with Linux, etc) or options are there? What options are practical? I guess that you could also do that with a Raspberry Pi device, but it is too big to hang on a keychain.
Hak5 did a recent set of podcasts https://www.hak5.org/frontpage/how-to-build-an-openvpn-access-point-hak5-2017 on building an openvpn access point using a Wifi Pineapple http://hakshop.myshopify.com/collec...kits/products/wifi-pineapple?variant=81044992 I have not tried it but thought this was reasonably close to what you are looking for.
