Been using Patch my PC since it was brought to our attention here. I like it and have not had any problems at all.

Today this happened (first time) ...

    Microsoft-Windows-SoftwareRestrictionPolicies

Access to C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\PatchMyPC\gacutil.exe has been restricted by your Administrator by location with policy rule {2309506c-6726-40ba-acd8-2dde4aa8040d} placed on path C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\*\*.exe.

    - Patch My PC blocked
    - I checked out the policies registry entry ' 2309506c-6726-40ba-acd8-2dde4aa8040d' and it is a rule created by CryptoPrevent.
    - I updated CryptoPrevent April 10 and received definition updates just yesterday. Prior to that, Patch my PC was not blocked.
    - I deleted the key, but it will be recreated by CryptoPrevent.

@Patch My PC. Justin, you might want to give these guys a call

I like this software. Not sure if following questions have been answered, but 1) from where does Patch my PC download the program updates? Directly from the publisher's website or from software aggregated sites such as download.com?
    2) And is the connection safe and encrypted to a certain level mitigate man-in-the-middle attacks?
    Thanks!

Most will be directly from the vendor. We host a few for various reasons.

That's great. What are the reasons for hosting some of the software?
    What about question #2?

Most downloads will be over HTTPS some vendors still will use HTTP for the installer downloads though. It would be the same download method as if you downloaded from their site though.

Process Lasso 9.0.455 shows as latest version, but Patch My PC wants to update PL to 9.0.0.456 - probably still a beta ... PL is prone to issues around this.

I'm running 455 also and the internal updater doesn't see a new version, however 456 is available on the front page at bitsum :)

We don't add beta applications. Sometimes vendors release updates to stage binaries on CDN a little bit before they reflect the latest version on the website.

Patch My PC just updated PL to 9.0.0.456 here. PL didn't find any updates before that. Don't know.

It is probably just slow at finding updates, just like many of the programs I use.
