I installed Nod32 version 2.7 over the top of 2.5. Never had any problems with 2.5 but 2.7 gives the following error message in the event log when starting IE6:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting
    module imon.dll, version 2.70.16.0, fault address 0x0002474a.

It appears Imon.dll is the problem. The error and fault address are identical each time. The problem is intermittent, happening every other time I start IE6

    No other computer problems.
Os is WinXp Sp2 with all updates.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    @davsan

This has happened to me once or twice . It was caused by Higher efficency level in IMON . In addition to BS's advise , you can have a look at NOD32 Control Center->IMON->Setup->"HTTP" tab -> Client compatibility and make sure everything especially Internet Explorer set to Higher compatibility

Thank you for your replies. I will uninstall/reinstall and also have a look at the higher compatibility section in imon setup.

Give the winsock/tcp repair utility a shot...I bet there's something else in the mix. My laptop I'm using now.I'm still on IE6, been running 2.7 since it was beta. (on latest version soon as it came out too). No issues, as well as a lot of my clients on NOD also....as I've held back deploying IE7 on clients...but many of them are on 2.7.

It looks as if the uninstall/reboot/download and reinstall new copy according to the tutorial did the trick. No further errors noted. Thank you all!

It appears as if I spoke too soon. Things worked ok for a few days and now Nod32 2.7 crashes Ie6 almost every time I open the browser. Imon client compatibility is set to higher. Short of disabling Imon ( Which does not sound like a great idea ) or switching back to version 2.51 would seem to be my only options. Version 2.7 is not really usable under the present circumstances.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

    Thank you!

Sorry, forgot to ask where I can download the previous version 2.51.26. I don't see it anywhere on the Eset website.

    Thanks again,

Nowhere . It is no longer available . Moreover , if you somehow manage to find it somewhere , ~ in the middle of December all versions will auto-upgrade to version 2.7

    Make sure that :
NOD32's IMON is set on higher compatibility for internet explorer (iexplorer.exe)
Your Windows/Internet Explorer is fully updated http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Because of the fact IMON works in the early Winsock level , it needs to be in perfect condition . Your Winsock might be damaged so I would suggest you to repair Winsock

Repairing Winsock should do the trick :thumb:

    HiTech boy

All windows xpsp2 components are up to date as of the releases on patch tuesday in November. I have scanned the hard drives using both Nod32 and Spysweeper with no infections noted. Internet explorer is set to higher compatibility in the Imon module http setup.

Just tried your suggestion of the winsock reset for xpsp2, rebooted, and will keep an eye on it for a while and let you all know if it worked. No error on ie after the winsock reboot - that's encouraging. Also opened a trouble ticket on the eset website with all the details.

    Thanks

Make sure you now have IMON started, as well I usually repair IMON after repairing Winsock; see post number 40 HERE

    Blackspear,

After the winsock reboot I re-enabled Imon and set it according to the tutorial. So far everything seems to be back to normal. Hope it stays that way. I think Nod32 is about the best there is in the AntiVirus field.

    Thanks for all the help.
