I have read several threads on this forum and others, but am still unable to solve my problem.

I have a msmsgs.exe process which continues to pop up. I have uninstalled the windows messenger, which obviously didn't fix the problem. I then deleted every msmsgs*.* file I could find on my computer (none of which happened to be located in the System32 directory as stated frequently in other posts). I even found a reference to a c:\windows\system32\crtv2_32.dll file that could be causing the issue, but I have no such file on my computer in System32 or otherwise.

I have run Norton AV, TrendMicro AV, AdAware, Spybot, Prevx, RegistryBooster, and now HijackThis. I've already fixed all references to msmsgs using HijackThis, but am not familiar with most of the other entries. Wondering if anyone might have a few suggestions (with msmsgs or otherwise).

HJT log removed as per this announcement,

    Thanks in advance.
