    Hi.
My problems with the latest release. (On Windows XP):

    1) 200.JPG

    2) No icon in the system tray.

Better to reinstall the 90 version.
    After you do so:

Double-Click on MBAE in your system tray to open it.
    Click on the SETTINGS tab.
UNcheck the box to "Automatically upgrade to new versions".
That stops the AUTOMATIC (i.e., without prompting you to confirm) updates. HOWEVER, you will now be presented with a "nag screen" prompting you to allow the update EACH TIME YOU REBOOT. You need to click CANCEL whenever you're presented with this confirmation dialogue if you want to keep the older version in use.
This is what I added to the HOSTS file to avoid having MBAE auto-verison-update and nag me for updates:

    127.0.0.1 data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

I can confirm that the icon is gone. Any ideas on how to get it back without uninstalling and installing it again?

How does this compare with OSArmor?
Has anyone done any testing with the two products?

As I understand it, MBAE guards against exploits at their entry points; namely internet-facing apps such as browsers, email clients, etc. OSArmor deals with exploits IF they ever get past MBAE.

MBAE is a tall, barbed-wire fence around your yard. If an intruder-bull somehow gets over that fence, OSArmor is a ********** Rottweiler INSIDE your house that enjoys eating intruder-bulls for lunch (he is especially fond of Rocky Mountain Oysters).

Thanks for the confirmation. The Windows XP issue was not resolved with 1.12.1.100. This is still a known issue that our teams are working on.......This did it for me....post 4...Thanks

I am a faithful user of MBAE. My tech support guy recently remarked that MBAE isn't necessary because I do all my internet browsing using Shadow mode (by means of Shadow Defender app). Hmmm... is he correct, I wonder?

I would disagree. SD has a vulnerablitiy that no one has chosen to exploit Commit

SD will prevent nothing, it will just erase the exploitation at the next reboot.

example: you surf > got an exploit > exploit abuse a Windows process then transmit your keystroke to the attacker while you are still on shadow mode.

    SD only prevent malware persistence.

    Hi guest

Not necessarily. Remember the purpose of the commit function.
