    This part I don't want:
I haven't yet looked whether it can be disabled.

It should be possible to disable the application status in the Application statuses setup. However, v16.0 is the latest which will run on the said old Windows operating systems because of signing requirements set by Microsoft.

Has NOD32 been renamed to Essential security? I hate that word so much (Essential), makes it sound like it can barely do the job. Whoever did that in ESETs marketing should be fired.

I've been really pleased with 16. No issues, no false positives.

Hide the Outdated operating system notification and continue using Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 (not recommended)

If you continue to use Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 after support has ended, your PC will still work, but it may become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Your PC will no longer receive Windows updates (including security updates). To disable the notification:

1.Open the main program window > Setup > Advanced setup (F5) > Notifications, and click Edit next to Application statuses.

2.In the General group, deselect the check box next to Your operating system is outdated. Click OK > OK.

    ** Worked for me! :)

Indeed...further to getting both my systems updated v16 does seem to be running 'smooth as a nut'...and I am really, really loving the subtle but might chnages to the GUI...has brought ESET right up to date...kudos. :thumb:

I'm wondering whether there is some inconsistency by Microsoft ...

We had a recent post here.
That post points to an article from 15 July 2022 here:
Microsoft intends to extend paid support for Windows 7 until 2026
    https://winaero.com/microsoft-intends-to-extend-paid-support-for-windows-7-until-2026/

I don't know whether that is true. But if it is true, then why the signing requirements from Microsoft before the new date in January 2026?

That's good. That's what I have. I'm not sure how I feel about being on the bottom end of the list with a 2 year old very expensive laptop.

What is weird is I have a 9th gen and mine is on and enabled. I could have sworn Marcos said it would not be visible if your processor is not support. Anyone know by chance?

That's correct. What output do you get when you run this PowerShell cmdlet?
