Regarding the new ''heartbeat'' monitoring feature in 5.45 , Piriform have just posted this in reply to the loads of complaints.
How long it'll take them is anyone's guess. I cannot see them taking it away, they may even add more things with fancy names like 'heartbeat' :)

Unfortunately, that doesn't say they will give us an option to disable it but maybe they will.

I don't use active monitoring. I see a lot of people jumping ship from CCleaner and don't blame them tbh. I don't like what Avast is doing to it either. I will put up with it for now I just delete the Avast cookies and don't give CCleaner internet access. Problem solved for now.

Speaking of being honest, it felt real good uninstalling that program. Privacy Eraser now in its place. :thumb:

I can't stop the enable active monitoring with ccleaner. After i uncheck it, it is checked again after the next boot. I can't minimize to the system tray either.

Just use portable? On mine, Options>Monitoring>Enable Active Monitoring is just greyed out.

Yes, unless Piriform / Avast give an option to disable all monitoring / "Heartbeat" that may be my next step... or maybe #1034.

I keep wondering where these dorks keep coming from that are so gung-ho on collecting data and wanting to control what you do; reasoning that it will help improve and stabilize their products. It keeps getting worse. Do you believe their intentions? I for one, don't.

I don't believe them either. Just look at Windows 10 for instance. This OS collects more data than Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, yet I encounter much more problems with it than with older OSs. So, more data doesn't mean that product will bring better quality. It seems that quite the opposite is true.

What happened with CC after Avast acquired it is a textbook example how to make an useless piece of s**t from the otherwise very good and popular software. Shame.

I guess a lot of developers just don't intelligently think about what they are doing and what the impact might be. If they had done it right in the first place, they could have saved themselves weeks of work :argh:.

Can I install 5.44 over 5.45? Or is it an uninstall/reinstall situation?
