OK, so you're saying that even when added to the list of protected drives, AppCheck still fails to protect other partitions/drives?
Mwahh seems like Peter2150 has a point, so because I am on windows 7 I fallback to Secure Folders (with MemProtect protecting explorer and protecting and caging other allowed programs in Secure Folders)
OK thanks, just checking. Weird that both AppCheck and RansomFree have got difficulties getting this right.
Shame secure folders development stopped, but I guess it was one of those hidden gems that we come across from time to time. Perhaps he lacked donations to encourage further development and with a low amount of downloads and the financing of the site made it all a financial burden.
Well I am hooked on FIDES. So simple. Actually these two aren't alone. There are others that have the two or more drive problem. Don't ask at this point. Point is if you have multiple drives it's Secure Folders or FIDES
What's what used to be Pumpernickel. See the FIDES Pumpernickel thread. It's basically a driver only file protection system.
I use FIDES on primary system, and Secure Folders on secondary to protect external USB drive image backups and Bvckup 2 folder backups. Both great. Oops OT.
V2.0.1.2 was just released. The following has been translated via Googe. Version 2.0.1.2 (3:00 pm on February 9, 2017) Multilingual support expanded (Japanese) Change the default folder to be automatically added to the "List of folders to be backed up" when using the automatic backup function Added app check log retention period automatic cleanup function Improving Improved CMS interworking function
Once they offer it internationally, I'll buy the full version..Its proved itself adequate for ME in the tests.
Awesome, I can tell you first hand the Pro version is very dependable and so light on resources that it's almost unbelievable. I have some SS of it's resource usage I can upload if you want to see them. Edit: I PM'd Nick & Peter in an attempt to get Ikko's account activated, now comes the waiting game.
Hi and welcome, I guess you are the dev. When I tested appcheck I notice a high impact on I/O hard disk use, even more than any AV. Why is this? Do you plan to fix it? Which feature is causing this? Do you plan to include the MBR protection in the free version?
@guest AppCheck copies files (with protected file extensions) to its temporary backup folder when they are accessed with update intend. AppCheck creates this copy with deferred writes, so in daily use you should not noticed it (unless accessing very very very large files).
It can be "fixed" with disabling of the feature "Ransom Shelter" ("Doubles the safety by running backup original file in real-time while ransomware destroys important files") , but then you'll lose one part of the protection.
Ok, then i'll monitor all I/O-Categories with a Process Manager for a longer time to see how much I/O is accumulated. In overall it has less I/O than other installed security software, but i'll keep on watching. Edit: I've seen no "ununsual" I/O-activity. We'll see what the developer has to say about this high I/O-issue.
