    HELP! Log file attached

I used AdAware 6.0. The problems I am experiencing are my homepage keeps changing when I reboot and so do my favorites. That is all that I have noticed so far.

    Thank you!

    Keith

Found this info on the website that my homepage keeps changing to

The homepage that my browser keeps changing to, had this little blurp under a FAQ link on their site. Is this something I should try or are they doing something else to corrupt my computer?

    Thanks,

    Keith

Q: Someone has changed my homepage setting and every time I reload my computer it's changed again. Please, tell me how I can stop this.

A: Browser security is a very important issue. More and more people, nowdays, neglect the security of their browser, and as a result, end up being victims of so called "browser hijacks". If you are a victim of such a hijack, please read the following before sending a complaint. We are not responsible for these kinds of activities, we are buying surfers' searches from webmasters all over the world. Maybe some webmasters, who are sending visitor traffic to us, are challenging your system's security. We are not aware of this, nor are responsible for this.
You can try to use this instruction to changing your homepage setting:

Start "regedit", open this key: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run",
if you see there files like "svchost.exe", "olehelp.exe", "explorer.exe" delete them.
Change homepage to other address, reboot.
If your homepage changed again read next.
Reboot Windows and start in Safe mode (F8 button begore starting of Windows),
    delete file "winlogon.exe" in this directory: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup".
The file may not exists. Just skip this step.
Change start page to other address.
Do not visit any dubious sites before loading all patches from Microsoft Update at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Anyone have any ideas? Or are there any other things that I should look for that could also be happening in conjunction with the other two thing? Can this spread to any other computers on my network? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Hello kbosch,

Download CWShredder Click on update, then close all browsers, and then click on Fix, not scan.

Next, download Spybot S&D Check for Updates first, download ALL Updates and Do a Scan. When finished, make sure ALL RED items have been ticked, and click the "Fix Selected Problems" Button.

    Reboot the computer.

Run Hijackthis again and post a fresh log here.

    Hi kbosch,

Before you start, please unzip hijackthis to a separate folder. The program will make backups in the folder in the folder it's in.
These easily get lost in a Temp folder.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.find-online.net/sp.htm
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.find-online.net/index.htm
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.find-online.net/index.htm

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.find-online.net/sp.htm
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://www.find-online.net/index.htm

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: Clear Search - {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000240} - C:\Program Files\ClearSearch\IE_ClrSch.DLL (file missing)

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ziphelp] C:\WINDOWS\ziphelp.exe

    Then reboot.

Could you mail a (preferably zipped) copy of C:\WINDOWS\ziphelp.exe to pieterATwilderssecurity.org

    TIA,

    Pieter
