    Thanks for the update :)

Hmmm so Emsisoft would probably have got higher detection rate here if they still would have used the Ikarus engine, but at the same time they would not have got the VB100 award (that they now have :thumb: ) since Ikarus got 1 FP and no VB100 award :D

    Confusing? Look here:http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archive/test?recent=1

    Keep in mind

Why do you think that they are too many, don't you think it's good that they are improving? :)

    Elementary

    -------------------------------------

    What confuse me?
    1) The gap between Emsisoft and Bitdefender detection rates.
    2) The bigger one between Bbitdefender and Roboscan.

    Because they are too many.

If you compare the present results with results from past RAP tests, you will notice the difference.

I can't wait for a year from now when I don't have to look at these XP tests anymore.

Perhaps because it is Roboscan and not Roboscan.

    I know =
Products that entered only one of the comparatives used to generate the chart (or for which only one set of results are counted due to false positives in other tests) are marked in RED - this indicates that the score may be considered less reliable an indicator of detection capability than those for whom an average of measures across several tests are available.

So you think that too many vendors are being tested by VB? :)

IMHO, * goes to Total Defence*.

    No.
Too many AV with improved detection rates.

This is what results look like when Bitdefender is basically in all vendors' products. *puppy*

    Not for long! Bwahahahaha!!!!!! :D
Seriously though, I have not run it for years and we do not use it at work, so it becomes difficult to relate to the results of XP based test when these products will behave differently on Windows 7 or 8.

IMO this shows better what the products goes for on their own as the OS itself includes less inbuilt security features, unlike Win 8 :)

Its because of the BitDefender signature files, which everyone are using and sharing now.

Then I was right the first time, so why is that wrong? o_O Afaik every vendors goal is to improve their products and not the opposite. I guess I don't know English good enough to understand what you are trying to say

    FYI:

avast! Free began with 7.0.1474 and was updated to 8.0.1482 and 1483 throughout the testing. But RAP results are v7 only.

Roboscan and ALYcalc were "...found to be insufficiently unreliable...and were removed."

Hope that doesn't violate the forum's haphazardly enforced copyright policy.

IMHO; if too many AVs do exceedingly well on any test; it's probably time to make the test parameters a bit tougher, like they usually do in any good real-life test :D

Tell people you've toughened up the test before hand though so they don't immediately start jumping out of windows thinking the test parameters are the same and their favorite has suddenly gone into the toilet.;) :D
