    -Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2
    -Acronis True Image agent 9.5.8163
    -Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise server 9.5.8163
    -Acronis True Image management console build 8,163
    (installed on Windows XP Pro SP3 workstation)

    About 2 weeks ago my Windows 2003 Std SP2 server which has daily Acronis backjob jobs scheduled suddenly stopped e-mailing me notifications. After reviewing the issue I determined the backup jobs were hanging and not completing. At first the jobs hung at 9% and would produce no errors in the event viewer. Restarting the server would stop the job and produce a corrupted tib.

    I first updated the management console from 8,018 to 8,163 then uninstalled the agent from the server and re-deployed 8,163. Now when I try and run a backup job it appears to run to 100% on the C drive, then the job hangs without completing. The other hard drives do not even get accessed. Here is the event log from the management console:

    In the event viewer on the server the application log now shows the following errors:

    Hello dlindner,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Remote Server Backup Software.

    We are sorry for delayed response.

    It's possible that there is a problem with Windows COM+. To check that, first please make sure the following two services are running:

    - COM+ System Application;
    - Distributed Transaction Coordinator;

    Click Start -> Run and type in services.msc to get the list of services.

    If noth started, then please check that COM+ is not broken by opening it manually (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer -> COM+ Applications -> System Application). If at any of the steps there appears an error message, then COM+ Application is broken.

    If that's not the case, please collect some information to let us investigate the problem thoroughly:

    Please create Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

    Please create an export of Windows Event Log.

    Please also clarify the content of C:\sqlbkup\sqlstop.cmd - there seems to be error during its execution. Perhaps some of the services fail to stop, which prevents the respective drives/partitions from being backed up.

    Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.

    Thank you.
