I've done it manually, making images more transparent and saving them, then again, and again etc......then animating them.
BUT....have a play with the 'effects' menu, there are some transition effects you can apply to an ani......I think there is a fade in there ;) .

    OK Brad,

    .....{if you look at the angel picture I just posted}
What I want to do is make the star look like its fading in and out.....not blinking.

    OK, so I've got the effects screen up....got my 2 pictures ready.....got the first picture in the "start with" screen {the picture with the star}

    Now, how do I get the second picture {basically, same picture without the star}
in the the "end with" screen?? instead of the black....I can see how colors can be changed but, not how an ending picture can be put there.

    Made this for ya!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/sealx/icons_smilies/face-laugh.png

    OK, {question #359.....[IMG] }

are you making pictures transparent with PSP?? That "layers" thing??
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=76457&page=14&pp=25

Oh just tell me how your making them transparent....
    http://bestsmileys.com/frustrated/8.gif

Also, I've never really moved the 'Quality vs. Size' thing.....I think, its right in the middle.

I'll play with that and check out what it does.

    OK..here we go.

I started with Marissia's pic (I took a screenshot, so I got a JPG, not the Ani).
    I opened it in PSP.
    I went "layers"......"New Raster Layer".
On this new layer I used put a twinkle using the tube tool.
Now there's an opacity slider to the side beside the 'eye'.
I slid this until the twinkle was totally transparent.
I went "save as" and saved this plain image as a JPG called 1.
I then slid the slider until it was a little more visible and "saved as" 2
A bit more "saved as" 3 and so on.....
The last one (7) was fully visible.
So I had seven JPGs saved from no star to fully bright....

I then opened Animation shop and used the animation wizard.
I went next, next, next, next and then add image.
I added them in this order....1,2,3,4,5,6,7,6,5,4,3,2.
From nothing to fully bright and back to nothing....get it? (You don't need to put the 1 in again because the ani just plays over and over).
    Then next, finish.

Once these frames opened in Ani Shop, I right clicked on the first frame and went "frame properties" which I made 200 (ie 2 seconds)....

I then Ctrl clicked and selected all the other frames, right clicked, frame properties again, and changed them to 20 (ie one fifth of a second)......
10 was a little bit too fast....

You can then....or any time....go "view", "animation" and have a look at it before you save.....

I then saved it on the second notch down on the quality/size slider, but it came out as 230 Kb.

So I went "animation"...."resize" and resized it to 80% of its original size (on the second notch again) and this time it came down to 190Kb...

    I hope this helps Cindy!

I know it seems long-winded, but it's quite easy. It seriously took me under 3 mins from the time I grabbed the screenshot until I posted back the Ani for you....

Anyway, PM me or post back if you've got any probs....
    Cheers,
    Brad.

You can even do the same thing with a 'copy' and 'paste as new layer'...
    ;) ;) ;)

You can do it this way also (I've just discovered!) but I can only get it to fade one way! (in or out).
You have to create a 2 frame ani first with the wizard....then apply the image transition effect. This adds in extra frames automatically.

    WOW!! BRAD!!! [IMG]

THANKS SOOOOOO MUCH FOR ALL THAT!!

I'm gonna read thro all this about 10 more times...
and give it all a try...and DEFINITLY be post'in back!

I do like the animation made with the PSP...looks better rotating....rather than look'in like its starting at the first pic all the time.

I'm still pretty new at the "layers" thing.......so, I'll need to practice with them more. But, I'm pretty sure I understand what your talk'in about.

Is there a limit on how many pics you can put in the Ani Wizard?

I did something yesterday, where I guess I told it to make 300 frames!
Guess thats alot http://img116.exs.cx/img116/934/z0tdntknw.gif Well, that kinda really {we'll just say} made the computer pretty angry http://bestsmileys.com/angry2/9.gif

Almost, didn't get out of that one.

Also, I'm hav'in the worst trouble figuring out what size and everything to make something to get it under the 200kb.
When I resized the animation and the pics in this
it cut off the bottoms of all the frames http://tcwozere.co.uk/smileys/scratchhead.gif

    I'll start homework atfer a bithttp://img115.exs.cx/img115/9916/z4dwink.gif

Oh yeah!!! What size did you save the angel pic at from the PSP??
    ~Maybe, thats what I'm do'in wrong....my pics are too big~

I will try resizing them using the "percentage of original" never tried that before.
I usually resize with the infran......thats always clearer for me.

We all love the Alicia pic.....she really liked it!!

Did you cut out her face using the Free hand tool??

Still waiting on how to do that cutting out subjects trick.

    ~hummmmmm.......http://forum.overnet.com/images/smiles/eusa_think.gif
enough info to save this thread, yet? Its still earily [IMG] ~

Just ctrl click to select more than 1 frame.....exact the same as you use it in Windows to select more than 1 file......
I'll post back in a minute....just looking at all your questions above....

Not sure Cindy, but I've done a few with 50 frames and seen a few with a lot more.....but remember it may end up MBs not KBs!! Grab a few good ones you see, save them and then open them in Ani Shop and have a look at how they are done....

Also, I'm hav'in the worst trouble figuring out what size and everything to make something to get it under the 200kb.
When I resized the animation and the pics in this

It's a bit of trial and error for me. I just resize, resave down until I get it under 200KB. Don't know why the bottom got cut off.....it's never happened to me. I usually resize ani's by %.

Oh yeah!!! What size did you save the angel pic at from the PSP??
    ~Maybe, thats what I'm do'in wrong....my pics are too big~

The original pic I grabbed with Hoversnap.....straight off the screen at your size 427x590. I had to resize to 80% because mine had a lot more frames to do the fade (13 I think..). Your twinkle one may have only had 4 or 5 frames.

I will try resizing them using the "percentage of original" never tried that before.
I usually resize with the infran......thats always clearer for me.

Irfan wouldn't resize ani's would ito_O Only images......

We all love the Alicia pic.....she really liked it!!

It was only a real quickie to show you what could be done....took about 2 mins.

Did you cut out her face using the Free hand tool??

    Yup!

Still waiting on how to do that cutting out subjects trick.

Select with freehand tool, click inside the area, make sure there is a fair bit of "feather'.....edit.....copy......paste....as a new layer.

    Cheers
