I just got an update for my Panda Cloud. After checking About page it still says 1.5.1. What exactly has been updated?

Also after checking Panda CLoud blog, i see that new version 1.9 will include Firewall. Will Firewall be available to free users as well or only payable users? It doesn't seem to mention that in the blog post (or i just missed it).

It was just a transparent hotfix update. There usually aren't changelogs for these.

    Payable users.

How often does synchronization take place?

On when it needs to synchronize. If the offline cache doesn't need to be updated, sychronization won't occur. :)

What events will trigger the update for the offline cache?

Whatever we (the community) see as circulating out there in the wild, the cache will be updated to protect the user against those threats.

I see scan compressed files in on demand scans is disabled by default. Should I want to scan such files and if not why not?

Hammer you can scan the compressed files but IME it takes longer for the scan to complete.

Compressed files needs to be extracted for them to be dangerous. Panda's real-time component should catch them then.

Thank's to everyone that's responded so far. New question though, I see that the setting to enable Advanced Log is disabled by default, why? What is the purpose of the Advanced Log?

Well so far that seems to be about once a day, at least since I installed it on 02/09/2011.

I've had two of those now since installation with the second requiring a reboot.

We introduced this in the early betas (before 1.0) so that advanced users could see how the different operations were being treated with the different internal scans (OnAccess, OnDemand, OnPrefetch) for seeing how the cloud-scanning architecture works. We left it there in case you want to see absolutely all operations being done by the CloudAV. You can think of it as kinda like a SysInternals Process Monitor but for CloudAV operations.

Actually there hasn't been one since Sept 3rd, I've checked the Events Log. Should I be concerned?

No. Though I have already answered that question. :) See here, posts #505 and #507.

Since you are connected to the cloud, PCAV is using the online cache (Cloud Intelligence). The offline cache isn't updated hourly or every day. ;) It seems this synchronization reporting "feature" seems to be scaring a few people...

Panda antiviruses should respect the user decision, ...and dont send files automatically without asking you

Your privacy is severely compromised without knowing it: default setting should be set to ask.
