Don't see the point in blocking games as I don't employ anybody and the time I waste is my own.;)

It isn't a detection of games you install on your computer or normal Java games you play online. It's the shadier type of Casino-like games.

Still not a security threat. In fact there is a description in the User manual describing it as a detection for time stealing games that reduce an employees productivity. I'm paraphrasing here of course.

It's quite strange. They said several weeks ago that it's "currently in betatest," and they even have numerous public FAQs about it more appropriate for the release and not a beta. Surely at least a private beta has been ongoing.

But isn't the Norton toolbar powered by Ask? What makes Avira any different?

It should be coming out very soon if the release date is correct. It is already the 28th June 2011 here in Australia.

I hope it doesn't install anything without asking me... if it does, I'll probably scream. Trouble is, nobody will hear me.... :)

The update for SP2 automatically installed by itself and then prompted for a system restart. The update came out for me about 30 minutes ago.

Just got the update and nuisance message to install the toolbar. Without it appears the umbrella on the tray icon stays closed.

Hmmm... MSE or Comodo since I just install the firewall?

MSE because its malware detection rates are higher than Comodo's.

Now where are you getting that statement from? Between Comodo's improving detection rate, D+ and the sandbox, I think the protection greatly outweighs anything MSE can provide.

He is already using the comodo firewall. MSE's AV has better detection rates than Comodo's AV.

I got the statement from AV Test results:

I'm curious to hear details about this update. When you said it's nagging you to install a toolbar, how so? You have the option not to, right? And if you do not are there still problems? I don't want the Web Guard anyway.

Does it force the upgrade to SP2 on you even if you don't have "product updates" selected in the configuration? I'd like to continue to just install defs for awhile until I find out more about this, if that's possible, but I don't want it sneaking SP2 in there with them.

Have you used both products yourself? I have and I've found that comodo's detection is far from "poor" according to the test. Detection is only part of a layered security defense. No AV is 100%. Why do think companies are integrating virtualization and sandbox's? They realize that detection can't keep up with the ever increasing threats. Adding comodo AV and integrating it with sandboxie, geswall or applocker will give you more than adequate protection. Why does one test from PCmag make it the greatest detection or the worst ever?

Well, I just ran an update and it did install the new files, 95 altogether I think. That went fine. Then I got the nag in the lower right corner asking me if I want to install the toolbar. The choices were Install now or Install Later. I just closed the window. So I take it that this thing is now going to nag me every day about installing the toolbar. That's no good... It won't let me just say NO. At least that's how it looks to me. I think I may have to consider using something else now... I don't know.... Maybe I'll sleep on it for a day or two. Not sure....

    85. ;) Obviously it says "Install Later" because a non-power user wouldn't want to be bothered (in case they are doing something), and it is a notification...not a nag. Now if it installed automatically, then you would be upset, yes? But anyways...to be 'safe', simply run the installer > modify > uncheck toolbar option. Easy.

Feedback concerning the toolbar: It isn't half bad. The toolbar and the webguard are both suprisely light and no noticeable slowdowns. From what Avira seems to advertise about the toolbar, it seems those past vulnerabilities have been patched. The toolbar says: "WebGuard is activated" and "Daily update complete". Only the webguard component is present, no ads, no apps, cleaning components, or 'extras'. The free webguard also comes with some form of drive-by protection, as it has the "block suspicious I-frames" option (disabled by default).
