I didn't bother adding IE9 to EMET as I read somewhere that these are technologies supported in VS2010 and therefor shipped with Microsoft latest products.

Are these new technologies not in VS2010 yet? I'll test adding iexplore.exe and see if everything goes fine.

Well everything working fine with both iexplore.exe and chrome.exe added and browsing around a little bit with them.

By the way it wasn't mentioned, but it is now EMET v2.1 instead of v2.

Shows 2.1 when I have it installed.

I have Chrome, Jdownloader, and Java using it as well as max secure settings.

Are there any programs known to not work with EMET? I've basically got almost every program forced to use it.

I generally only add programs that have had internet facing exploits in the past such as browsers, pdf readers, media players and chat clients. I personally don't think adding everything is a good idea.

    I'm in agreement with elapsed.

Although I've yet to experience any issues with EMET,it's probably best to just stick with any web-facing applications and/or anything likely to be targeted by exploits.

I only have it on my web-facing applications. JDownloader, Chrome, Java, Digsby. I don't have many other programs installed lol

Is it normal for EMET wanting to connect to akamaitechnologies?

It's normal for anything in Windows to connect there, because of Microsoft partnership.

I had an interesting conversation with someone about the potential dangers of EMET and how it essentially works like a rootkit. They were arguing that it increases the attack surface of your system because it could be targeted by an attack and used to essentially distribute .dll injections.

At least, I think that's what they were saying. They know more than I do. I think we both agreed in the end that the benefits outweighed this potential.

Thanks! Downloaded and updated. Can somebody here (who thinks he/she has the best and complete EMET configuration) export and upload their EMET config file? :D

My EMET config file wouldn't work for you would it? We have different applications...

I think it doesn't matter if we have different applications.

It does if you have specific applications on your list, doesn't it?

Otherwise just set global settings to "max" and be done with it.

Should I uncheck protected programs first then uninstall the previous EMET or install over the top works?
