    Mozart, Sorry if I missed a specific question. This sounds more like a statement or suggestion which I take serious. I certainly care what people think and over the years most improvements have been based on user comments and feedback.

    I'm sure there are a percentage of people who don't understand WinPatrol but with limited resources I probably do spend more time helping those who do understand enough. Even then I'm sure like many programs there are features regular users don't know exist. I'm all for education which I think it one of the best reasons for upgrading to WinPatrol PLUS.

    Someone asked about updates which because of the nature of WinPatrol aren't required like programs which use signature based protection. Typically I release a new version every 3-4 months with new features.

    In an effort to better support 64 bit user I made a error our original release on Friday. It only affected 64 bit users. I have found this problem and by the end of today I will have a new 18.1.2010 online which fixed all the problems reported by 64 bit user.
    My original plan was to have our official release tomorrow anyway.

    If I missed a specific question I apologize. While I was pointed to this thread I don't make it a habit of scanning all the comments about WinPatrol. If you have any specific question you can always Email support@WinPatrol.com. I response to all Emails personally as soon as I get to them. You won't get an automated response, it will come from me. ;)

    Thanks again,
    Bill

    Hi, David. What is your cookie folder problem? If you are having problems with Mozilla-based cookies, close Firefox first and then try with WinPatrol. Firefox locks the cookies file so other applications can open it. In the event that does not work, you may need to completely uninstall WinPatrol, as outlined in the help document I wrote here: WinPatrol Help: WinPatrol 2010 and Firefox Cookies

    Not Mozilla,- IE. WinPatrol is looking in wrong folder and this can be changed but does not stay changed. i think it looks in C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\ when uac is off but should look in C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low when UAC is off.
    I think it has a problem where by its folders it looks in, depending on whether UAC is on/off are reversed
    Going to have to get rid if not fixed. Great program but hate those cookies.

    Hi, David.

    I don't believe that UAC has anything to do with it. I have UAC on and with Both Windows Vista (32-bit) and Windows 7 (64-bit), WinPatrol looks to the same location for IE Cookies:

    C:\Users\%User%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\low\

    If you are comfortable with registry edits -- and exporting the registry as a preventative measure -- you could see if the instructions I provided for Firefox works for IE.

    (Personally, I don't use WinPatrol to control cookies. I have 3rd-party cookies blocked in FireFox and have the additional benefit of Cookie Protection with SpywareBlaster blocking ad/tracking cookies.)

    18.1 installed and working fine on my 7 x64 system. Fast work, and over a holiday weekend. Thank you, Bill.

    18.1 working fine here too. Although, i did notice an "unusual" behaviour. Scotty tried many times to connect outbound, while has never done so in the past.

    Ah, i didn't know about that. This explains some things. Oddly enough, until the previous version, WinPatrol was the ONLY application i had, that could... bypass Win7Firewall Control. Sort of... I was getting a popup during the activation of Plus, but before i could even move the mouse to "allow", i was getting a "Thank you" (for activating) message. It was passing through the firewall. Now it doesn't! :D

    @Bill

    Please confirm Multi String error resolved for registry monitoring and protection of subkeys

    @others

    Useless to update registry protection script, when there are still some glitches to iron out.

    Try for fun running Microsofts Autorun, go to the registry key

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    Disable Winpatrol, exit Autoruns, wait a minute for scotty to bark, reboot (now uninstalling WP)

    Regards Kees

    Hi Corrine . If you turn off UAC it will look in C:\Users\%User%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies

    The main site should really update more. The download itself was still 18.0 for hours after 18.1 was announced here (and on the website).
    I thought BillP was too lazy to change the version number..

    It doesn't work with ace utilities start up manager, even with XP. I confirm that. Maybe it is a bug.

    But when I add a program to the start up via the program's options, it notifies me.

    It's a bug. Version 18.1 doesn't display (or warn) startup entries in:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    (Win7x64). We need a 18.2 :D

    Confirmed. I don't have any 3rd party programs in delayed start, but i suppose it should show the few windows services that are set to delayed start... Well, it's blank, like you say. (Win7x64)
