I haven't had much time to play around G Data IS 2009. So far, I can say that it feels pretty light on my HP vista laptop. Much much better than the 2008 version. Vista boot time and opening of applications is quick. Web browsing with IE7 is fine but, Opera is a little sluggish with the HTTP scanner enabled. Full system scan on a newly installed OS took ~40 min (default settings).

    AV: Home Antivirus
    IS: Home Internet Security
    TC: Home Total Care

    Overview can be found here:

    http://www.ultimateinternetsecurity.com/productoverview/homeusers/

I never have realy trailed GDATA because with the trail there is no option to update the definitions so when trailing you are not up-to-date protected. Is this still the case? Maybe Matt (UIS) can say something about this.

You download the trial and register it (firstname, last name, and email) through the update option in the program. Then you have 30 days of virus def updates.

Hey.. does any one knows, how much RAM this G DATA InternetSecurity 2009 uses when running..?

I have just download it, and its ~260mb for the .exe file. Its like 8x more than other Internet Security Suites..

    Thanks

    3DFireStarter,

By looking at your sig you are running too many security apps on your pc  , most likely one or more of them is conflicting with the GData product that you installed. And if youre trying the IS, it just would make things worse. Assuming you uninstalled KIS correctly first before installing GData, i'd point my fingers on ShadowDefender, Sybot S&D (disable the TeaTimer add-on), WWDC (windowswormsdoorcleaner, is it? o_O) , BugOff, Harden-IT and/or Secure-IT, one of them as the 'conflicting' app but i honestly don't know which one could be causing your issue. You may want to uninstall them, one at time, to find out which one is it. Otherwise, I'd stick with your current superb setup.

GData 2009 uses both the Avast! & BitDefender engines for all of their Home user products :)

even if it is the best i would never use it, I don't use and i probably never will use a antivirus with 2 engine.
for me kav, eset, avira is just fine, i'm not saying that Gdata is bad, it's maybe better then every AV but naa thanks no.

If you've placed a file in quarantine, there is a button at the bottom of the "Quarantine" screen you can use to send it to the G DATA research lab.

As for the G DATA 2009 version: it's really a great product. I've been using G DATA for quite a while and this 2009 version is by far the best product they have ever released. Full security & full speed... what more do you need?

Hello and thanks for posting the final versions off gdata 2009 :D

I have installed the security suite but if i wanna buy and go to the link that gdata provide for buying then i get the screen off the 2008 version.
Can i use the code then to register the 2009 version that i downloaded here ?
This is final you say but how come that only german website still only provide 2009 for download and not the Netherlands or England.

    Well thanks again.

    Greats ysco..

    Dear Ysco,

The official launch date for 2009 version in the UK is 27th October, this is due to major improvements in the UK website rather than the software not being ready. There is nothing to stop you purchasing the 2008 codes and using the links above to download the 2009 product.

    i hope that helps.
