I'm seeing this same problem in 5.0.4.0. The install link is grayed out on updates for supported programs.

I can't reproduce this behaviour in 5.0.3.0 (I thought 5.0.3.0 was latest version?)
Did you first hit the download button?

So I have to download first and then install?

That's how I am doing it. But I am using freeware version. Maybe in the Pro version a direkt install is possible, but I don't know...

OK... thanks. I have been downloading and manually installing. I hadn't tried installing directly. I am not sure if the freeware version is different than the paid version either.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Yes, it's like a shortcut. Maybe it'll be redesigned as a "Rescan/refresh" button later. No real portable apps support yet in this beta

It's on the dashboard, during a scan. It's only visible when there's a lot of items to put into it

If there's no checkbox, it's not selectable :) The border should no longer appear in the BETA

Hi Bill, using manual actions you first need to hit "Download" before you can "Install".
Or, with bulk selection, just check it and then hit "Update all".
EDIT: I now think adding an "Update" button might be a good idea...

    Hi Tigzy:

When I use the latest UCheck Free Portable 64-bit BETA v5.0.4.0 (offered 23-Oct-2023 in post # 621), the tooltip warning on the Updates panel for the Portable (purple) AdwCleaner says "This program provides no installer, please visit the official website". However, if I click the Open Website link for that program my browser opens at https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1/ that displays a "Thank you for downloading..." message without ever prompting me to download the adwcleaner.exe file before I an re-directed to https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1-adwcleaner/next.

UCheck v5_0_4_0 BETA Updates AdwCleaner v7_4_2 Tooltip 25 Oct 2023.png

When I tested on 06-Oct-2023 with the old UCheck Free Portable BETA v4_11_0_0 (offered 05-Oct-2023 in post # 335) and chose Download from the Action dropdown I believe that my browser also opened at https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1/, but I actually saw a pop-up prompting me to save the adwcleaner_8_4_0.exe file.

UCheck 4_11_0_0C BETA Updates Download AdwCleaner 05 Oct 2023.png

AdwCleaner v8_4_0 ToolsLib Download Save This File 25 Oct 2023.png

IMPORTANT NOTE: On several occasions in the past few days I have been unable to manually download AdwCleaner v8.4.0 from https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/files/2697/ or any other link on the ToolsLib site. However, the download button on the official Malwarebytes website at https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner always works correctly.

ASIDE: I would either remove all links for Open License on the Updates tab or at the very least place more space between the Open Website and Open License links. The text font is so small that I frequently click the Open License link by mistake when I am trying to click the Open Website link.

The good news is that the UCheck Free Portable 64-bit BETA v5.0.4.0 detected an update today for iTunes [a fully Compatible (blue) app] and I see the expected checkbox on the Updates tab. However, the option to Install remains greyed out / unavailable under the Action dropdown, even if that checkbox is enabled. I would expect the option to Install to always be enabled / available for a fully Compatible (blue) app on the Updates panel.

Yes, I have already seen that the border no longer appears.

But what I asked for was that this border did appear but with a different color and larger, if possible.

    Thanks for the attention.

That's not how it works, but we'll simplify that.
    Either "Download", then "Install"
Or Check it, and "Update selectd".

The bug with AdwCleaner should be fixed server-side in a minute

Yes but that border was just a visual bug. You should not select items that way, it's done using the checkbox (when it's available)
We'll try to refine that to allow checkboxes for exclusions as well.

I think that would be good. It would make it a one step process instead of two steps.

    Thanks,

    Hi Tigzy:

Here are a few observations for the latest UCheck Free Portable 64-bit BETA v5.0.4.0 (offered 25-Oct-2023 in post # 640):

The icons on the Dashboard for Updates / Installed / Download appear to be cropped off.

UCheck v5_0_4_0_B BETA Dashboard Icons Cut Off 25 Oct 2023.png

The LATEST column on the Installed panel is still very slow detecting that newer versions of the Compatible (dark blue) app Malwarebytes (v4.6.5.293 released 19-Oct-2023, still no release notes posted <here>) and the Community (grey) app Microsoft Edge (v118.0.2088.69 released 24-Oct-2023 - see release notes <here>) are available.

UCheck v5_0_4_0_B BETA Installed Detecting Old Malwarebytes and MS Edge Off 25 Oct 2023.png

I also still have some concerns about the way that Portable (purple) apps are managed on the Updates panel. When I expand the Action dropdown for my outdated AdwCleaner v7.4.2 portable app I can now see the options to Install or Download are both enabled ...

UCheck v5_0_4_0_B BETA Updates AdwCleaner Action Options Download 25 Oct 2023.png

... but when I choose Download it downloads the .exe file to the cloud and waits for me to start the installation as shown below (i.e., like a fully supported Compatible app) instead of prompting me to choose a download location. I personally don't want UCheck automatically overwriting ("installing") files for my Portable apps in my current E:\Portable folder, and if I can't just download the latest .exe or .zip file and save it to a location of my choice (e.g., like C:\Users\<myusername>\Downloads) then I doubt I'll be using UCheck to download and/or install any portable apps from the Updates panel once your list of portable apps is expanded and updating the executables of some of these portable apps becomes more complicated.

UCheck v5_0_4_0_B BETA Updates AdwCleaner After Download 25 Oct 2023.png

I also clicked on the Open Website link for AdwCleaner and the behaviour hasn't changed - my browser opens at https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1/ and displays a "Thank you for downloading..." message without ever prompting me to download the latest adwcleaner.exe file and in a few seconds I'm re-directed to https://toolslib.net/downloads/finish/1-adwcleaner/next.

    Hi Tigzy:

A minor correction to my previous post. Malwarebytes employee H4V0C has just posted release notes for Malwarebytes v4.6.5.293-1.0.2181 in the topic Malwarebytes 4.6 that is pinned at the top of the Malwarebytes for Windows forum. I'm subscribed to that thread since release notes are normally posted there before the "official" release notes at https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/en-us/sections/360005863113 are updated.

UCheck has been making a number of improvements and is to be commended for doing so. However, I have been comparing SUmo and UCheck three times a day since October 23, and while I have seen a number of updates in SUmo I have only seen two in UCheck. Some of the updates in SUmo, not showing as updates in UCheck, are in fact UCheck supported programs. Am I expecting too much to see an update of a UCheck supported program in UCheck if I see an update of the same program in SUmo? And, am I expecting too much to see an "Outdated" for a community program when there is an update of the same program in SUmo? The UCheck version I use in my comparison is UCheck (Premium) 5.0.30 64 bit.

    Hi Tigzy:

One other minor glitch. I updated today to the latest iTunes for Windows 64-bit using the full offline installer (iTunes64Setup.exe) from MajorGeeks at https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/itunes.html, and Help | About shows I now have v12.13.0.9 ...

    iTunes v12_13_0_9 Help About 25 Oct 2023.png

... but the latest UCheck Free Portable 64-bit BETA v5.0.4.0 (offered 25-Oct-2023 in post # 640) still has STATUS = OUTDATED and recommends an update from v12.13.0.9 (the same VERSION detected by UCheck) to the LATEST v12.13.09. I attached my latest UCheck scan history as a .txt file.

I spoke too soon. It is probably not fixed yet. A new version of Revo Uninstaller Pro was released two days ago (v5.2.1), but UCheck still tells me that v5.20 is the current version, which is wrong: https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo-uninstaller-pro-full-version-history/
I still hope this will be fixed soon. Thank you.

Two more things: UCheck did not tell me that there was an MS Edge update (v118.0.2088.69). However, UCheck did tell me that that PDF XChange Editor was updated to version 10.1.2.382, so UCheck missed a couple of updates, but it found at least one program to be updated.

    Hi Tigzy,
Here is my new feedback after several days. I'm avoiding doing updates frequently to have a significant number of items to check.

    Cattura.PNG

    Cattura.PNG

    Checks results:
    • The available updates highlighted by SUMo are all checked and verified but not detected by UCheck, which is still relatively slow in detecting them.
    • All the programs, with the exception of O&O Shutup, are programs with a normal installation, therefore not portable.
    • Only Firefox has the correct detection
    • HiBit Uninstaller has been indicating version 3.1.62.200 as available for many days (which never existed) and has not detected version 3.1.70.0 which is available today, continuing to propose 3.1.62.200
    • Kodi is still an issue (as of now no updates available)
    Hope this helps

That's a UI bug linked to the library we're using. Unfortunately we didn't find a way to fix that. It self fixes if you resize the window
