zero slowdown here from it, in fact its one of the lightest i have ever ran aside from maybe one or two others. maybe something wrong with the install or maybe a conflict on your systems. i know a large number of people running either free or paid and have not seen a boot up slowdown since middle of last year when that was actually an issue they were having. have you tried fully removing it and running the avira cleaner and then doing a fresh install? just curious.

+1, tried them all, this is one of few that do not have any system impact.

Boot time from start of Windows splash screen to desktop was 8 seconds before, still 8 seconds after installing Avira

Please go to your control panel and ensure you do not have some crap installed called Bonjour which comes bundled with Apple software and Logitech Mice and if you do find it, uninstall Bonjour, it's a camouflaged virus that goes undetected by any AV and sends all your usage habits to Apple or whatever company has bundled it and causes severe slowdown

    Hi anon,
Build 15.0.8.644 left the beta program and has been accepted for going live. So, the last beta build number is equal to the released version until the next build is available for beta test. This is the usual proceeding since a long time.

We have been going through the details about the release process / descriptions / changelogs several times within this thread.

This is true, the build number is different this time for the current product update:
    • Avira Free: 15.0.8.650
    • Avira Pro: 15.0.8.644
    • Avira Server: 14.0.8.514
    • All other products: 14.0.8.532

Do you really need to use the Avira Registry Cleaner after I uninstalled Avira successfully via Programs and Features?
I want to reinstall Avira, but I'm wondering if a successful uninstall is more than enough?
I'm always very careful if not stay away from any Registry Cleaners in general.

    Hi Tom111,
The use of the Avira Registry Cleaner is not necessary in your described scenario.

    I think I'll go with Cmhelper's advice.

    @anon
I've downloaded the Registry Cleaner and opened it just to see what and how it looks like, but from the looks of the cleaner you can only select the preferred option to delete the keys from.
I mean, what does the cleaner deletes after I click 'delete'? The program doesn't show what it will delete or not, I think I'll pass on this one, because I'm not willing to take that gamble.

Or people have to say otherwise on what the program will deletes and whether it's safe to use or just avoid it.

It shows (what it will delete) in the next step.
    ----------------
    What gamble?

    If you run:
    a) the normal uninstaller (via Programs & Features),
    b) the Registry Cleaner
    c) and the installer afterwards,
just you made a "clean install"

    Instructions for manual uninstallation

But those manual instructions only count for if the uninstallation failed via Programs and Features.

But my main question is, if the uninstallation went successful via Programs and features do you still need to run the Registry Cleaner?

That's why I'm going to go with Cmhelper's advice, because I think he knew right from the start what I was asking for.

Yes, the link is for manual uninstallation, but I suppose that everybody knows what "clean install" means and what is best: Just a simple re-install or a clean install....

    a) If you are going to re-install the same version => No, you don't have to run the Registry Cleaner.
    b) If you are going to re-install the same version in "clean install" mode => Yes, you have to run the Registry Cleaner.
    c) If you are going to install a new version => The Avira RegistryCleaner removes all keys created by Avira. Running this utility is strongly recommended before installing a new version.

    See (a) above.

I tried it just for the sake of it, but then the registry cleaner doesn't find any keys to be removed (every key was not found/deleted) after Avira was successful removed via Programs and Features.

A couple of keys were locked (but even in safe mode they still couldn't be removed) so it's safe to say when you successfully uninstall Avira via programs and features it's (totally) not necessary to run the registry cleaner afterwards.

Removed Off Topic Posts. Let's Focus Only On The Topic Which is Avira. Don't Bring Any Other AV Into The Discussion. Thank You!

i run the registry cleaner each time. even if im re-installing the same version. i have found it just eliminates the possibility or having an issue (which i have had once or twice) it doesnt hurt anything
