Bork Tuesday, Any Problems Yet?

    Thanks for those links SM. It is still not clear to me though whether is is still worth my while leaving the "Give me recommended updates etc" box unchecked or not. I will for now and see what happens. I just get the impression that most users have it checked if they are going with the rollups. Anyway, as you say, time will tell.

    For those of us, like me, who like to be able to differentiate Important and 'Recommended' updates, it is advisable to have the "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" box unchecked.

    Only users that want to install updates automatically, including the 'Recommended' updates, would want the "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" box checked.
    If not, best keep the "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" box unchecked, I would say.

    Thanks again SM - that has clarified things for me. I will continue leaving it unchecked and see how things pan out over the next few months.

    OK, after installing KB3188740 and KB3185330 (Win7 64-bit) just now, KB3177467 reappeared as Important.

    Went ahead and installed it. Did not ask for a reboot!

    I had already installed 3188740 and 3185330 some days ago.
    I too installed 3177467 a few hours ago (Win 7 64-bit).
    Same as you, no reboot required. But I manually did reboot. No problems so far.

    Yes! :thumb: I always do that, even if I'm not asked, just to make sure everything is fine. Excellent tip! :)

    May I assume you mean the October 11 (= week B) security monthly quality rollup, not the October 18 (= week C) preview of the monthly quality rollup?
    Concerning the October 11 (= week B) security monthly quality rollup, no problems on my Windows 7 x64 systems, either.

    As this is the "Bork Tuesday, Any Problems Yet?" thread, I assume that if anyone finds any issues, it will be reported in this thread. I don't think there's a need to ask, and for everybody to report no problems.

    seeing the new update distribution , i'm talking about monthly rollup , why don't open a new thread , there are 111 pages about very old updates and old update system release

    Also with the new update distribution, I assume that if anyone finds any issues, it will be reported in this thread.
    New, current issues will be posted and can be found in the last couple of pages of the thread.
    If there was no good reason to start a new thread, before, why start a new thread now?

    That's your opinion. I visit this thread in order to see if any of the "regulars" have successfully installed updates, or not. It is just as useful to read here that no problems were encountered as it is to read that issues were discovered. It's all feedback the way I see it, and I'll take what I can get.

    Stuck at 81% here, proper stuck. Win10 (KB3200970)

    Update: 40 minutes later it's crawled up to 87%

    I just got Windows 7 Monthly Rollup KB3197868, all went well for a change :)

    In my VM I installed security only update from Microsoft Update Catalog with no problems.

    No problem with the Win10 updates except on one machine it took a fair while to download, install and then after the restart, configure. Left the machine alone and it did eventually complete and boot.

    On my two Windows 7 x64 systems (1 Professional, 1 Home Premium), I installed KB3197868, November 2016 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

    Different than expected, nor the KB3197868 knowledge base article, nor the Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 update history page, mention the details that were in the knowledge base article for KB3192403, October 2016 Preview of Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, and that I mentioned in my October 18 post in the No more individual patches for Windows 7 and 8 thread.

    After installation of KB3197868, I checked Services and Registry, to see
    - if Diagnostics Tracking Service (DiagTrack) was re-enabled*,
    - and if the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection key was created.
    Both were not. :)
    Everything looks fine.

    (* The Diagnostics Tracking Service (DiagTrack) is on my systems, because earlier, I installed KB3068708 and KB3080149, for the reasons that I stated in my February 14 post in the Bork Tuesday, Any Problems Yet? thread.)

    Edit:
    Now confirmed for not only one, but both my Windows 7 x64 systems.
    Edit 2:
    Specified my two Windows 7 x64 systems: 1 Professional, 1 Home Premium.

    N.B.
    Even though nor the KB3197868 knowledge base article, nor the Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 update history page, mention the details that were in the knowledge base article for KB3192403,
    nevertheless, KB3197868 may deliver the telemetry content that was mentioned in the knowledge base article for KB3192403, October 2016 Preview of Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, anyhow.
    I am not certain, yet.
