Re: the subject about Prevx missing detections of certain malware, as with any antimalware vendor, there are times this will occur. No-one disputes this. However, there are channels to work with the AV/AM company to get detection added or not as the case may be.

It is against policy to provide malware links here, but that doesn't stop individuals working behind the scenes with the researchers. It's no good jumping up and down saying product X missed sample Y; contact them, provide samples or at least give them links either by email, using the submission form on a website or PM a represntative if in a forum like this. (I have done this a few times via email with a number of vendors.)

It'll save a lot of time, and users will eventually benefit from being better protected if the information provided turns out to be malicious that was not previously detected.

Excellent points. This is what someone does when they want to cooperate and make things better.

what ever anti malware u gonna use prevx /avira / nod32 all is roll of dice , a gumble with your pc security and yours value files , this why i NEVER count on sig based software , u must add some sort of hips/sandbox software as first line of defense , my method proof its self for long time(couple years) :)

To be honest, the first line of defense is yourself. Forgetting the possibility of catching malware from legitimate sites that have fallen prey to a compromise of some sort, the rest of it is really down to what you do online.

There are people in these forums without HIPS/sandboxing software who say they rarely get viruses or none at all, and scans with this, that and the other show up nothing. Unless you are researching malware regularly or routinely download many files by whatever method, there isn't that much reason to suspect you'll get infected if certain standard precautions are taken.

On the other hand, if you do some of the things I mentioned, a layered approach to security will help, but at the end of the day, you should still be in control. :)

Nothing is perfect and many Youtube tests lack professional methodology.

However, ako, a member here, ran some tests against Prevx and Zemana Antilogger just two days ago: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=252938 and some shortly before that: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=252928

If you have any samples which Prevx misses, please follow these reporting guidelines so that we can fix them: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=245129

    Thanks! :)
