I have read the thread two times, and I am still not 100% sure that it is a bug. We'll see what happens in the coming days http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=41846&p=253683 We are not the only ones that are confused about this at the moment. It clearly isn't very obvious that one have to disable this at TWO places. Hopefully everyone will figure it out eventually.
FYI. Changing monitoring settings (CCleaner Professional). Browser and System Monitoring links at bottom of that page. Keep in mind that this is for the Professional version. No documentation explanation has been added yet for the Free version.
I grabbed the portable version, as per usual. I tried out monitoring by ticking the box and then, sometime later, unticked the same box. I thought I was good to go but discovered that I was still getting the dreaded "monitoring" along with the notification in the system tray. I was only able to resolve this by changing the monitoring settings in the ccleaner.ini file from "1" to zero (see below). Monitoring=0 SystemMonitoring=0 SystemMonitoringRunningNotification=0
I found the problem. Aparently CCLeaner no longer likes Sandboxie to be installed on my D drive. I first tried installing an update and that didn't work. I then uninstalled Sandboxie from drive D and reinstalled it on drive C. Now CCleaner sees it again.
Thanks J.R. great info..for me 'Scotty Dog' Stopped and prevented any changes!! woof..woof nothing running anywheres
I tried doing the same on another machine on which I have the program installed and got the same result. It must have something to do with the portable version.
There are no two "system monitoring" A) Monitoring = a) Enable system monitoring , b) Enable browser monitoring. B) Advanced = Enable Active Monitoring.
stupid they added this monitoring. if they want to add it to the pro version fine but why add this junk in the free version 90% imo will just turn it off. i have for the time being removed 4.18 and went back to 4.17
After reading the above posts, I think I'll stick with version 4.17 as well. Just clicked on CCleaner and it's bugging me to update to 4.18.
hi real time monitor is now free and no more included in the pro or plus version about "complete cleaning" does it mean it can clean all the os users? thanks
Good choice, wolfrun. I made the mistake of installing the new version and then I had to try to deal with monitoring of my system and automatic startup - not my choices. I ended up uninstalling CCleaner completely, for my peace of mind. No telling what else is going on in the new version and I just don't need additional problems to deal with.
Couldn't agree more. Less problems = Less stress. I used to have lots of stress in my life years ago.....I divorced it...problem solved. (sense of humor)
New download of ccleaner announced in forum thread. http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=41843&page=2#entry253777
I upgraded and just unchecked both boxes, that's it, no monitoring and no startup I like that it now includes XnView
I went back to version 4.17, as I couldn't get rid of the tray symbol even after disabling system monitor. I wonder if what I had was the newest version 4.18.4844... Win 8 here.
