in europe, most people use primarily emule and for them ZA and specially ZAF has always been the firewall to avoid, even advised so in the official emule site. The last i had tried ,6.1.744 was ok,but it still failed to the UDP test, even if you gave emule complete server rights.

    The warning still exists i see,although it's from 2004:

    Notes:
    - ZoneAlarm is reported to cause problems with eMule. It is not recommended. Nice and free firewalls are Kerio Personal Firewall and Agnitum Outpost

ZA Pro fares better, cause you can force open that UDP port.

Not being picky here but personally I would of preferred it to use NOD32 AV engine as I find both ZA and NOD work very well in conjunction.

Re: ZoneAlam Security Suite To Have Kaspersky's AV

Yes, sorry about that, it is my mistake. The KL moderator just told me that anti-hacker is developed inhouse. :p

Bittorrent also relies on the UDP in order for DHT to work. I am not exactly sure whats so different with the eMule protocol. But there is a way to force ZA to accept all UDP connections and you are right in saying that ZA Pro can do it but other paid versions of ZA like ZA AV and ZASS (both of which will have Kaspersky's Av engine) can also manually open ports. You can try the ZASS 7.0 beta.

    Instructions to manually open ports:
If you have a paid version of ZA, in addition to granting server rights, you can go to the "Firewall" section>"Main" Tab. Click the "Custom" button in the "Internet Zone Security" subsection. Tick the boxes beside "Allow incoming UDP ports" and "Allow outgoing UDP ports". Type the appropriate port number for each of these two entries. Click "Apply" and then "Ok".

Thanks, but i don't have ZA Pro (used to have ZAF),although i m familiar with how you open specific ports. But now i ve a router and so i prefer to avoid any ZA version and concentrate on something much lighter which can give me simple outbound control and that's all.So i use Ashampoo free.

I just posted cause like the other user,i ve seen these problems that ZA has with Emule. All you need to do is visit the emule forums and search for "zone alarm" or visit the zone alarm forums and search for "emule".

Interested in hearing more feedback on what your impressions are of this suite. Right now, I have donwnloaded it and may try it out but I really like Avira suite a lot.

Well, the much awaited beta has arrived and its working quite well here..it seems the closed-beta group have done a decent job!

And oh,the UI,i haven't seen a more poor attempt at making a new UI than this one, especially when everyone used to like the previous one..

And sadly,no web-scanner...it allowed me to download eicar files both *.exe and zip.

    Will test later,good night!

    In Known issues:

Antivirus: Empty line between AV DAT file version and AS DAT file version (CR00207313)

So they have converted the virus database format to DAT, similar to the virus database format of McAfee? o_O

Impressive components. If this release comes together as planned, it's going to be hard to top. I'm tempted to try the beta.

Have this beta installed for 2 hours now and here are my initial impressions.

First of all, conflict still present between Zonealarm and Bufferzone which had to completely uninstall to complete the Zonealarm install process. This alone would prevent me from using this suite. Scan time about the same as initial Kaspersky scan but unfortunely, scan options are very limited( no scan new and changed files option present). Also, only update options are manual or auto. Cannot set intervals. Also 'scan memory' option unchecks itself and clicking okay. As said earlier, no web scanning present.
Spyware, Ad-Blocking components i would only rate as fair. Will report later on further testing.

    Thx ashishtx :thumb: :)
Well, almost the same as before. I wish they would make a more stream-lined interface (especially the design/gfx). I find the deviding of the program sections good though.
