Trend doens't like ZAM2, you may want to get with Trend to have it whitelisted.

It can cause a crash on boot when Trend tries to block the file as 'suspicious', also during uninstall of ZAM2 Trend flags the temp files created on uninstall as malware.

Avira, Bitdefender, ESET, Kaspersky should cover almost all threats with low number of FP.

Is this heuristics based detection engine used in your Antilogger Pro?

Also, slightly off topic - there is a discussion on your upcoming Zemana Safe Online here

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/zemana-safeonline.372953/

would it be possible for someone to drop in to that thread and give us some information on this new product.

I dont see any reason why something would detect a perfectly clean website as a browser hijack. Can you at least give me the reason to detect startpage? And I cant delete one of the excludes as in my previous post.

My pick would be Eset, Avira, Kaspersky, Emsisoft and Bitdefender.

As for the "resemblance" of ZAM and HMP, yes, they look similar. From the background of blue and white, progress bar, the way it goes red in case of infections, they look like brothers. I am not going to say zemana copied their design, but it surely is influenced by HMP. I am not going to flame zemana, I dont know any of the agreements between Zemana and Surfright, and how they shared ideas. But if you continue with the current design, ZAM will be living under the shadow of HMP and even a year after now, people will refer to ZAM as a spin-off. The only way you can set a distinct footprint is by changing the design, set it apart from HMP. And the best time to do that would be as soon as possible, before going from beta to public release.

And, I still dont see anything new on the google group. Would there be any future use of the group?

Emsisoft is not needed when you have Bitdefender and ESET.

No, I did not stop the ZAM service.

However, just as this problem suddenly (or with an update?) appeared, it disappeared suddenly (or with an update?) as well...

Zemana detected "127.0.0.1 mpa.one.microsoft.com" as "hosts hijack". I reported that the file is safe and automatically added to the list of exclusions

    And now it's back again...

Can't seem to pinpoint a pattern (my current hypothesis: whenever an update is available).

Go to control panel -> administrative tools -> services -> ZAM Controller Service and check to see if Startup Type is set to automatic.

It looks like ZAM.exe is starting with a start key in the registry but the ZAM controller service is not starting.

If I change this setting from automatic to manual then reboot, I get something similar to what you are describing. So switch it to automatic and reboot.

If it is already on automatic, then I don't know. If it was set to manual, then how did it get that way?

Checked: it is (already) set to Automatic (and the service is started).

Thanks for trying to help though!

I have run my second ZAM portable scan on my system. The problem that I reported earlier, about XP cpu usage has been improved, See my post #68

Three detections have been made in this latest scan, which I do not understand. I have not allowed any deletions or corrections.

Just scanned with portable v2.2.1.460...Previous FP's are no longer.

Seems, that cloud scanning has been introduced with this version and so, too the excessive CPU usage in XP has reappeared...:(
