    It's back online now.

I would like to say that a lifetime license should be just that. As long as the person lives not 10 computers later.

Zemana is connecting to the cloud for me again.

@daman1 Scan times are fine for me. A Smart Scan just took six minutes. I've never run a Deep Scan, as I don't really see any point. Any active infections should be detected by a Smart Scan.

I just removed ZAM because don't like the direction it goes.
Soon it's only options will be tray icon and gui with "scan" button :D

+1. Disabled service, will wait a little while longer before uninstalling completely. Meanwhile, will use VT Uploader, or, Hitman Pro for 2nd opinion.

I dont even see the purpose of the advanced button if the auto-launch is going to be the only option there. Seems like ZAM will be focused on basic users and lose the wilders base pretty soon. Frankly, as of now, ZAM is like spoiled milk, it was good at first, but not usable anymore.

EDIT: Found something really odd, under exclusions I am seeing "Local Area Connection 77.109.138.45". That IP is of Swiss Privacy Foundation's DNS, which I am using under the LAN. I have no idea why ZAM would even detect that, let alone exclude. The last scan I did was over a month ago, it was not there, and only now I am seeing this.

I'm not removing this anytime soon. It took 6 minutes to do a Smart Scan with Zemana and about 25 minutes to do a HyperScan with Malwarebytes.

    Comparing apples and oranges......

    fyi:
    Scan duration . . . . : 1m 44s,
    Duration : 0m 32s,
Time Elapsed: 3 min, 50 sec,
Time Elapsed: 7 min, 52 sec,

    So what?

@anon Yes, I know, but that was just one reason. I'm keeping it mainly becuase it seems to have decent detection rates, and the removal of features from the software does not bother me. For example, I'd never taken any notice of the ability to select scan engines, and as a result the removal of the ability to choose them is of no concern to me.

Having said that, I think 25 minutes is way long for a HyperScan to take in MBAM, it should have only taken a fraction of that time. I think it may be that disk access in Windows 10 is causing a big performance hit. Under normal circumstances, I would expect a Threat Scan to complete much faster than that.

No, it's apples and oranges, imo.

    That's another story.

    And that's another one too.

Portable updated and no problems so far. Wish they would bring back engines options. Also would like to see a prompt to update so I can set AppGuard to install mode first.

ZAM 229 - Deep Scan freezes my Windows 7 64-bit Pro SP1 machine, after classifying phase and shortly after start of scan. Has happened repeatedly now. Have to hard reboot.
No issue on my Windows 8.1 64-bit Pro machine.
And no issue on either machine with Smart Scan.

Deep scan with latest portable beta version worked okay here (W7 Pro SP1 x64).

Okay I noticed something. I am running the latest download (not beta) and I noticed a couple times Zam froze and stopped classifying files. It happened a few times which forced me to reboot and it seems okay now.

Anyway I would recommend for Zemana to make the betas easier to find (the latest one) so we could download them individually if we need to.

Yes, I am also running portable version, but I do get the freeze issue (229 beta, then 229 stable) but on Win 7 Pro SP1 x64 only. Not Win 8.1 Pro x64.

A cut to the chase, anyone? Frankly,..
Is the app living up to expectations or tilting at windmills? In a funny (yet no laughing matter) way I would've rolled the dice on this app some 20 or 30 posts ago until the sour grapes postings erupted. --> (Now there's a grape with deliciously delirious Zinfandel potential!) :D

I use the portable version with a lifetime license a couple of times per week and have zero complaints. None.
