YouTube has removed videos of robots fighting, citing “animal cruelty”
The fact the videos were removed raises some intriguing questions about YouTube’s automated removals process

YouTube takes down a lot of videos. I wish Google had not purchased YouTube. Multiple reasons.

The aim is to clean out YT from all violence videos what is fully understandable. It naturally brings a negative impact that some videos will be removed unintentionally. The hardest task is to find balance. It is the same with cleaning of a computer. If you clean too much you can screw your machine if you clean too mild you won't get a clean machine. I wouldn't blame Google solely, people should understand that YT (and not only YT) is flooded by violence and that Google strives to combat it. They can help Google with a correct naming, description, marking etc. of their videos in a way that the internal removing process (automated or human) will recognise their videos as harmless. On the other hand it can be misused to mask up bad videos. The balance is what matters most. Definitely not an easy task.

USA still the best. But getting worse!
I really enjoy the show BattleBots. It's really violent.
But no humans or animals are harmed so I'm not scum for enjoying the **** out of it.

Ok, I should elaborate a little. My biggest gripe with Google buying it is the fact that when they took over everyone wanted to sue them for some kind of infringement or other because they have billions of dollars. Nobody seemed to care before. As for the violence... an age restriction seems more reasonable than an outright ban of all videos. Especially as stated, no animals were harmed in a robot video. At least I hope not.

Yes, I wish Google didn't own YT as well. I remember it before.

Were these robots AI sentient? Because I believe they can suffer from depression from being forced to fight each other and exhibited on YouTube. ;)

Next they'll be removing old cartoons like "Road Runner" and "Bugs Bunny".

    Oh the horror!

I don't think that such a big platform should get rid of all violence, because it will create false impression for some people about real world. There are different types and expressions of violence. Some types of violence is consensual such as in sports like boxing and it's effects are limited by rules, judge and medical staff. Sometimes violence is purely psychological. Some other forms are depicted in movies, music, video games.

They started censoring those in the 80s. Fortunately the DVDs seems to be mostly intact.

I just looked this up: YouTube gets 60 hours' worth of video every minute. I can't grasp those numbers on a daily basis. So, even tho' I despise Google, it's a monumental task with gigantic margin for error. Too little censoring and the potential for lawsuits and bad press increases.
