This should be the rule rather than the exception for anyone with young children. I guess the fact this this isn't the case is why this is news.
Somewhat. People will try to read more into that than it is worth. Almost all of the content is posted by the general public so this speaks more to parenting than it does to YouTube itself. Still there will be folks that see this as an admission from the CEO that something is wrong with the product. I spend too much time on YouTube myself. Some things can't be unseen.

When you watch YouTube you confirm your age is above 13 years old. If you have less than 13 years then YouTube Kids is the only option. I know it is not how this works in real life, but what she was supposed to say?
