Well, they weren't to begin with...

but after this > Sunbelt sites not responding > https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=281080

However, everytime this happens, and the next time I update, the definitions revert to '0'.

I just wasted 75MB of my meagre monthly bandwith when the update launched autmatically. Still it failed.

Since I wasn't going to waste my bandwidth...I just rebooted into another snapshot that has the Vipre definitions intact. ;)

Judging by the icons in your system tray it looks like you have something running as Untrusted by Defensewall. If VIPRE is running as untrusted this could cause issues. Also, you have alot of security programs running; using that many pragrams in real-time could cause serious instability. :thumb:

More likely it had do with the Sunbelt servers being down. Sunbelt was unreachable for several hours yesterday evening.

    Tarnak,

I apologize for the trouble you had with this. A fiber line was cut near our building where construction was being done which resulted in a loss of internet for the area. Everything was back up and working correctly once this damage was repaired.

In this case, it sounds like you may have been downloading definitions at the exact moment the line was cut, causing a corrupt download. If you had attempted to update while the server was down it would have just responded with the error you posted a screenshot of and not corrupted the definitions.

I believe we are currently working with GFI to setup backup servers in multiple locations so if this does occur again in the future you will not have trouble updating even if the servers here are unreachable. Again, I'm sorry for the inconvenience this caused.

Good Afternoon ! As a heads up Sunbelt still hasn't provided def updates since the cable cut...and as I recently stated...nothing has has been updated since...so for the interim I have re-installed Trend Micro's Titanium product...until Sunbelt rectifies the situation. I'm certainly surprised that a contingency plan with the parent company G.F.I. wasn't looked at earlier. This unfortunately will leave a lingering doubt with Sunbelt's customers for quite some time. A plan B should have been in place. Sincerely...Securon
