    # I think some of these prgrammes are not needed:
StartupMonitor: not really needed if you use LUA+SRP+KAFU(memory footprint =0)
#Kcleaner: I think this is an interesting one too, not sure how it compares to CCleaner though
#Hazard Shield: Site is down, reviews make it sound like a spyware-cleaner
#Snoopfree: There was a keylogger test before, i'm not sure if Snoopfree was tested but in the end none of them could pass all the tests.
#JavaRa: Awesome application! thanks for the tip(although im currently testing a java-free setup)
#Windows Installer Clean Up: i believe CCleaner already has this option and so will Kcleaner probably
#Start Menu Click History Viewer: looks pretty useless to me unless it can be used to clean out the database (if CCleaner does not do so already)
#ShellExView : what would you use this for?

A really screamy website makes me doubt what it does, do you have any idea how it speeds up the system?

I spotted your JavaRa in your list, and am wondering if you use this yourself. It looks interesting, but I am a little gun shy trying unknown processes. :doubt:

OK I installed JavaRa.eve and ran it. Updates have been piling up since 2004. It cleaned it all except the latest update. Thanks for the tip! :)

    1) startup manager - easy way to remove all those programs that insist on loading at startup - like Quicken etc
    2) system optimisation. 84 small modifications. you can accept all or pick the ones you want. before optimising a reboot on a freshly installed system tool 1 min 10. after it takes 55 seconds.

If you make images just make an image - give it a go and if you don't like it restore your image. The program is free for personal use. It won't change your life but I found it quite useful.

am now having fun with windows install clean up to see how much I can remove before I kill something I really need.

I have been using the Windows Live OneCare cleanup scanner quite frequently under VISTA.
It works well and is free.
On the options page, choose 'customize" and you can turn everything off except the rgistry cleaner (or use all the options if you want)

    http://onecare.live.com/site/en-au/center/cleanup.htm

There are various free scanners and utilities at the site.

    # Google for : Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

ESSENTIAL for each one , which had a product of Norton / Symantec !!!

Not need to read on their page : to run and it is all !

It will show a window : " Security alert of Windows : blah blah ... do you want to continue has to block this program? " . Click on : " To release " .
    ..." ... Removal Completed ... Finish " .

    Restart your computer .

This tool will stop ALL RUNNING Symantec programs and clean your Registry .

And your ( and my ) computer : more , more quickly ! :argh: :argh: :argh: ... SPEED is of the essence ! ESSENTIAL , my dear Watson .:thumb:
