Adguard for Windows (for Firefox and Ferdium), but I use DNSJumper to set the DNS in the OS instead of Adguard. The jumper also shows Google DNS to be fastest, although I'll try some of the others if the speed goes up.
I did an interesting test with Edge in the website “Ubuntu.com” which has 3 trackers. Basically,as you can see in the image I disabled the internal protection of Edge Anti-Trackers and disabled uBlock Origin (or AdGuard Adblocker v.5.x). The 3 trackers in the image are blocked, as you can see, at the DNS level (ERR_ADRESS_INVALID) by my only 2 filter lists: https://ibb.co/tDMj500
If you have many filter lists I just have OISD + HaGeZi Multi Pro ++ and as you see they block all 3 trackers.
I would like to make a follow-up remark. If we consider MV3 extensions: uBlock Origin Lite AdGuard AdBlocker v.5.x and we subject them to a significant number of ads/trackers (135) in a short period of time, uBlock Origin Lite in my opinion has a Service Worker that works similarly (not the same) as an MV2 extension. While AdGuard Adblocker v.5.x has a less responsive Service Worker when compared to uBlock Origin Lite. The test has a result that can be indentical for the 2 extensions. But with AdGuard Adblocker v.5.x I detect several blocking interventions at DNS level: https://ibb.co/mSGCRx6 While with uBlock Origin Lite no blocking intervention at DNS level as it happens when using uBlock Origin. I will repeat this test in June 2025. But currently with the use of AdGuard AdBlocker v.5.x it is advisable to match a DNS level trackers block.
I am currently trying in Edge the use of uBlock Origin Lite + Ping Blocker. These 2 MV3 extensions make my browser fast and responsive in opening web pages, surpassing AdGuard AdBlocker v.5.x. There is also better cosmetic filtering on some websites. The cons are less privacy and security. I show you with pictures the differences between Adguard Adblocker v.5.x and uBlock Origin Lite. With uBlock Origin Lite, it's impossible to block the usual message you might occasionally encounter “Google recommends you use Chrome”: uBlock Origin Lite: https://ibb.co/nNYPfRvP AdGuard AdBlocker v.5.x: https://ibb.co/KpzT975M With uBlock Origin Lite you can't remove paywall: https://ibb.co/wrbCdd4f AdGuard Adblocker v.5.x: https://ibb.co/YBFG0zT2 In AdGuard Adblocker v.5.x this test can be passed without the Ping Blocker extension: https://ibb.co/NgY0hSnv With AdGuard Adblocker v. 5.x you can get this in the 2 Browserleaks tests below: https://ibb.co/B5fNTWj3 https://ibb.co/Wp6q5NyL In AdGuard AdBlocker v.5.x you can use Hard Mode + TLD which provides more security and privacy. In these 3 months I will have to evaluate all this. ____________________________________________________________________ Back to uBlock Origin.
I have made the final decision that I will not use uBLock Origin Lite in my Edge after the abandonment of the MV2 extensions. Part of this decision is due to the obtuseness of some individuals on the team helping Gorhill develop this extension. I thank Yuki2718 who helped me make this decision. I believe, but have not had direct contact with him, that Kees1958 will also be using AdGuard adBlocker v.5.x.
Just note that you trading security for convenience (blocking ads). AdGuard replaces legitimate certificates with it's own, which makes you more vulnerable to MITM and it can cause issues along the way, especially during payments.
Recent info. from Kees1958 about the extension he uses: https://github.com/Kees1958/W3C_annual_most_used_survey_blocklist/issues/87#issuecomment-2708718138
Forgive me but I did not understand what you wrote. An MV3 extension with much more limited permissions than MV2 how would it do what you write?
Sorry, I thought that you are referring to the desktop version. Code: https://adguard.com/kb/general/https-filtering/known-issues/
It's off topic, but HTTPS filtering in AG for Windows (desktop) makes only sense for filtering ads. If one doesn't care about it, no problem to disable that option or to whitelist f.i. banking sites. Trackers will be blocked.
