Basically the giveaway edition setup files/installers check online to verify that it's not 11 Nov yet...before allowing you to proceed with the installation. Try installing it offline now or try it after the giveaway period and you won't be able to install it.

For those who doubt that it's an SD V1.1.0.331 'clone' (slightly modified icons and name) - but do not wish to install it, you can extract the installers using 7-Zip (or other extract tool) and see for yourself.

With the plethora of mystery surrounding SD V1.1.0.331 itself and the current owner(s)...this "YesShield" thing is doing no favor to anyone here. Forget it.

    This^

Guys, seriously, why mess around with questionable programs like this, seriously?!
ShadowDefender is done,it's gone. You want a program thats similiar to SD,there are others programs to use,yes maybe not as good of protection, but it's better then playing the guessing games with programs like this.

If you don't install YesShield, then the installer will expire after Nov.10,2012
If you install YesShield before it expired, then it will work for lifetime.

-What if you install before Expiration, but you reformat your PC?
-Will the installation file work in that case?

Gotta agree, too risky for me, but some like playing with fire.

Development and official support may be gone but...
It's still here on my box, only cause I bought my lic when Tony was still around and cause I've put SD through hell 'n' back and always come out squeaky clean.

    Again gotta agree.

I guess that it wouldn't work after a reformat of the system.May be you should ask someone who posted the giveaway here?

I've been using YesShield along with AppGuard. No issues. I've scanned with several different tools and nothing suspicious to report. Combo is working great.

I would sooner use returnil than this program of dubious origins.Pity SD is not free or i would try it and buying from shadowdefender.com seems a bit dicey at the moment.

While others apparently share your SD-YS concerns I am not one of them - for the following reasons:

    • I bought a copy from the 'new' site; promptly received my license (key) and SD has been working perfectly.
    • I am receiving (SD support) replies to all of my questions.
    • SD is not free but it is on sale right now at a 35% discount (and it doesn't cost anything to try it)!
    • Finally, I see nothing wrong with YesShield being an SD-clone; other software developers also practice this sort of licensing. Since SD is the originator, it will likely always be a version or so ahead of YS.

Is Tony (developer of Shadow Defender) aware of the existence of Yesshield?

Can it be installed anytime, or does it have to be by the 25th?

You have until the 25th after the 25th it will give some sort of verification error (can't remember the precise notification text) and it will offer you to install the trial version. So you can install it today, tomorrow or whatever but after the 25th you only have the trial option.

Having said that, don't be surprised if the giveaway promotion is extended again (it has now been extended a couple of times since 4 November if I am not mistaken). Off course don't assume it will actually be extended...

Make sure that during the installation the program isn't blocked by a firewall and that you have a working internet connection on the pc you are trying to install (and make sure the date is correct on the pc).

Make sure you read the other replies in this thread, yesshield has some unclear origins (Yesshield = older version SD?). I have installed it on 2 machines and it works perfect (but that doesn't guarantee anything).

It's signed by the same person that has signed the latest Shadow Defender, so I think its origins are pretty clear - it's from the same source. Quite why/how an older version of Shadow Defender has ended up as YesShield is another matter, but SD has an affiliate program, and this is probably just an extension of that. If true, it's exactly the same principle that results in derivatives of Rollback RX that can be bought from various vendors under different product names.
