Xtra CD's

A year ago I backed up a laptop to CD's. It used 14 CD's. I just successfully reinstalled and after using #14 to show the end of the series (as requested) I only used CD's #1-9. What are the CD's 10 - 14 for?

1. when you created the image last year how many partitions are included?
2. how many partitions are you restoring now?

My intention is that your image last year included more than one partition.
And today you restore only one partition.

But: It is possible that there are other explanations...

I am impressed with your mulitiple CD restore! It proves it can be done and says plenty about your persistence.

Next time DVD's may be your choice of media ( I take it that you are not entirely trusting of hard disks?).
