Pardon this little bit of idiocy, but where the hell are the "cookies" folder and the "temporary internet files" folder in Windows XP? They were in the windows directory on every other versio after 3.1, what happened?

    Hey Craig,

    Cookies are in C:\Documents and Settings\Login Name\Cookies

    The TIF's are in C:\Documents and Settings\Login Name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Where Login Name is your user name.

Ok, I ofund them, but there's a couple of cookie folders. One in documents and settings, and one in temp. To clean out the cookies, I erase the contents of both?

You only need to worry about the cookies in the Documents and Settings.

Bill, you're cool. This whole board is cool. I love oyu, and I love this board. I wish I could help people, but I don't know much about computers.

Anyone need help refinishing a guitar? Advice on foster care? Bass lessons? Cake decorating?

    Hello,

There are no cookies in your temp : they are only shortcuts to the cookies folder ;)

Deleting the cookies don't clean the index.dat which anyone with access to you PC may see with notepad, for instance.

You should use a third party app, like MRU-Blaster Free from Javacool ;)

    Rgds,

You can go to explore or just type temp files or cookies in the search program. Disk clean up usually takes care of these files. You can try tools inthe internet explore this eill also clean out these files. i hope this helps

    till later
